I think (only for me of course) that if I leave more than 2 days between runs, self doubt creeps in.

I struggle with the notion of gremlins as this suggests some external force. These are your thoughts; based on your beliefs which in turn arise from your experiences. Just because you think something (e.g. I can't run) doesn't mean that it's true. Obvious I know but we all get caught up in our thoughts and do not challenge them.

Wait until it's cooler (tonight or in the morning) put your gear on and head out. Test out the theory (that I have) that your thoughts/beliefs are inaccurate and see how you go. If you don't manage the whole run you have succeeded in getting out and confronting your (possibly?) wonky thinkingšŸ˜

I don't personally subscribe to the gremlin argument. The voice stopping you from running is your voice.

Try to remember why you started in the first place. Maybe the situation has changed. Maybe you have found another way to exercise your heart and lungs and legs that is as efficient, cost effective and mentally stimulating as running..........tell us if you have.........

Maybe you are right. Maybe there is no point in improving your physical fitness, after all we are all going to die one day, so why try to reduce the risk of succumbing to life restricting illness and disease. You only statistically improve your survival chances by exercising....there is no guarantee, so why not take the gamble and stay immobile. I mean if you are fit you just end up extending your life (of course that is only statistics again) and maybe it is better for your body to fail a bit earlier and save the hassle.

You don't live forever. Life as a fit person is just so much better than as someone with a debilitating illness that stops them from going out of their home, or even getting out of bed.

There is only one person who can make you do this.........and there is only one person stopping you. It's your choice.

Wow think you just gave me the big boot i needed. Thank you for being straight to the point. I sit at a desk for 8 hours a day so no i have not found another exercise as you state above and yes you are right the only thing stopping me is me...

Wow to the point but a good message :)

Depending where you are it might not be cool enough tonight or tomorrow morning - London forecast is for a hot night. So wait till Friday. The break was sensible in this weather. Then go for it. I am counting on my slightly longer break being good for my running. I am sure you will be the same.

Sounds like you need some motivation. It's so easy to think "I'll go out for a run tomorrow". Give yourself a present of some sorts. New running top? New water bottle? New socks? Doesn't need to be something big or expensive (though big and expensive is good too). Wouldn't it be a waste if you bought something and didn't use it? A little treat is good for the mind, it encourages positive thinking and positive running. Good luck, and get on out there!
