I never thought I'd get passed run 1 but week 2 here I come. However, I still haven't ventured out I like the security of the gym too much (knowing there are professionals on hand to revive me). Is anyone else doing this on the treadmill or are you much more adventurous than me?
1 week down : I never thought I'd get passed... - Couch to 5K
1 week down
It really IS an adventure 'out there' And a LOT of fun, for every "less than wonderful" experience I have had this last year of running there have been a dozen at least things which I am so glad to have seen or experienced.
And - you learn a lot about yourself when you go out day after day. It's as much an inner journey as an external one. You experience your body - and by extension your very Mind - in a way you probably never have before. It can be a bit scary at first - like the running part - but increasingly becomes as much of a valuable experience as the physical and outwardly
You gave C25K a go - give the great outdoors a try If it's not to your liking at least you will not wonder anymore if you 'should' be doing it
Wishing you many happy miles, no matter where you run them
I do a lot of walking outside (I probably walk faster than some run) and I'm sure I'll start running round our lovely town and countryside soon. I guess I've stuck to the gym because I do tabata after my run. I'm hoping I keep this up as will he on holiday soon and planning to get in some early morning runs along the sea front.
I am up to week 3 on the treadmill! I like knowing that I'm running at a steady pace 😊
Hi I've just finished week 1 on the treadmill as well. I don't feel like going outside yet but the treadmill still counts.
It's great to know I'm not the only one on the treadmill. Keep up the good work x
I was pro treadmill for ages and did not enjoy my first couple of outdoor runs but I think it was more a mental hurdle of wanting to continue on the treadmill with the steady pace, the even surface, aircon, (and a toilet close by :0p). But I have to say I reluctantly gave in and actually thoroughly enjoy my outdoor run. It is different and each to their own, but I do recommend giving it a go especially in the early weeks with a good balance of walking v running.
Have fun and keep going :o))
I've done this on a treadmill so far too. It certainly means fewer excuses for not running!
I'm running around a field near me and really enjoying getting out and about. I think I'll envy you that treadmill once the weather turns cold though
Well done LynnC1975 you're doing great! Whatever you feel comfortable with must be good! I don't belong to a gym so outside is my only option but I do puff and pant a bit as live on the edge of the South Downs where it is pretty hilly! It supurs me on turning the corners and seeing different views and that I'm nearly home again! The breeze is wonderful too. I'd agree with another comment that if you are tempted to try outside, maybe do it while we have still got the walking phases as that is my recovery time from an uphill!
Good luck!
