Good luck ! Getting out there the 1st time is the most difficult step. You'll feel great afterwards and will be motivated to continue. Get your stuff ready beforehand and and just do it!
Thanks Lavender - I am that determined I want to start NOW, but have a night shift in a few hours so wondering if it will kill me for tonight lol!? ๐
Welcome and good luck! Keep us all posted about your progress, but just remember the mantra of slow and steady and take your rest days (although you can do other low impact activities such as cycling, swimming, walking on these days).
Good luck. Keep it up after Saturday. It will take a few weeks to get into the swing of it but the programme is great and works. I hurt my back last Sunday, just muscle pain, and I have missed out on 2 runs whilst I was recovering. Feeling better now and going out for run 1 of week 8 later today after work. Good luck.
Best of luck. Some runs will be good, some great! Some will suck and be difficult to get through. Don't give up during those moments, it happens to everyone.
Don't worry about speed; don't look at everyone else around you who is running. Number 1, they've been doing it longer than you - you'll get there eventually, in your own time. Number 2, you'll injure yourself if you exert yourself to much, the slower the better.
I always dread having to get changed when I get home from work to go on a run, but once I'm out, there's no stopping me! It may be the same for you.
Your legs will hurt when you do your longer runs, it's normal. When I started doing the 20 minute plus runs, I found the first 5-10 minutes where the most difficult, then it got a bit easier.
Follow the programme, take your rest days and follow the mantra... slow and steady.
Don't be tempted, not by anyone or anything to rush this. The C25K is a structured programme with a steady stamina and running strength build up It is a great programme and it works, and, linked with a healthy eating regime can sometimes help the weight loss
Keep posting for terrific support and advice... post your successes and set backs... if you have any We are all in this together and as Irish-John says, we never run alone....
Good luck when you do get out... i think you are, from your last post going tomorrow I shall be out for a run too...
I did my first week, first run yesterday. Im 5+ stone overweight and a terrible couch potato. I wont lie, it was hard but im so happy i done it, this morning i ache but im still going to do it again tomorrow. Its a much better feeling than knowing you decided not too. Good luck x
I failed the first run twice๐ฎ but.....i kept going out there and trying. It made me more determined. I'm only at w2r1 so only just ahead of you. My excuse is that I'm pushing a toddler in a pushchair. You can do this!!! Good luck!!
I need to lose more than a couple of stone! It's hard - I thought my lungs were going to explode. I seriously struggled to run even for just one minute. But, here I am, at the end of week six (although I repeated a couple of weeks along the way) and I can't believe that I'm about to run for 25 minutes! It really does work. Believe in the programme and believe in yourself. Take rest days - they're crucial - without them you will find everything so much harder and your body needs that rest day. If you have a bad day, chalk it up as just that - a bad "day". Put it behind you and keep going. You'll do this - if I can do it, anyone can do it!
haha I didn't say it got easier just not so much of a shock to the body but when you go forward to the next week - and the app tells you to run for 60 seconds that seems easier,
