Am i going too slow ?
Hi and welcome back...
Now...f you were on here two years ago... you should know better
We never use the 'f' word.... and there is no such thing as too slow!!!! ( Unless you may be running away from a scary zombie... )
Did you start at the beginning again and are now on Week 6... or did you start at Week 6 ??
No, it is about a different movement - and sustaining it - not necessarily a different pace. Your cardiovascular system knows the difference.
I completely understand the feeling of going too slow, and the urge to go faster. The reality though (I have to keep repeating this to myself as well) is that the SLOW runs are the ones building your aerobic capacity. At this stage, running slow is actually more helpful to our improvement than running fast. Not to mention the the slower we run, the less painfull it is, the further we can run, and we're less likely to be injured... The question isn't am I going too slow, it's am I going too fast.
I followed the 'Go Slow' mantra and it worked for me. Don't think about speed- concentrate on the time that you are running. Yay well done you, you are on week 6!
I used to worry about going too slow as well, I'd see a lot of people in the same park and surrounding areas going much quicker than me and over taking me at times. I just look at them and think "I'll be like you one day" and I know I will be, it's not my time yet.
The joy of running on a treadmill at the gym is that no one goes past me! I am incredibly slow - in fact I think I could walk faster but I'm keeping going and my aerobic fitness has definitely improved. Good luck, slow and steady will win this race
