Too slow for what? Don't be too hard on yourself.
The plan is to gradually build up your stamina. It is about you getting up to a point where you can run non-stop for 30 minutes. How far you get in your 30 minutes is irrelevant. Speed will come later. Have a quick search on the park run website and you will see that many people take over 30mins to run/ walk/ jog 5K.
Well done for running non-stop for 25 minutes. For those of us on W3 feeling great cos we've run for 3 minutes non-stop, you are an inspiration!!
No, no, no, .... slow is good. You're doing really well to reach week 6. I don't know about treadmill settings but I do know that the important thing is to run for the required time, it doesn't matter how far or how fast, that will all come in time. Just kept going at your own speed (or slower), you're doing fine.
No such thing as too slow... not in this programme anyway
The C25K is all about reaching Week 9, able to run three, thirty minute runs, comfortably, and hopefully having avoided the IC on the journey
Check out what info your treadmill is giving you.. are you sure that isn't resistance levels?
Never feel disheartened..you are running and getting to Week 9....time for speed and distance comes later, after Graduation if you choose it... well done!
Just do it slowly, not need to worry about speed or distance while doing c25k
I jut worry that I can probably fast walk quicker than my jog if that makes sense lol
Thanks for your kind words... I'll
Carry on!!
Your comment about walking faster than running reminds me of when I was "running" the Two Oceans ultra marathon in Cape Town many years ago. I was jogging up Chapman's Peak and was joined by a very friendly, elderly gentleman who was chatting and telling me how he had completed umpteen of this event as a marathon walker. He then proceeded onwards, upwards and in front of me. It was only as I reached the peak of the mountain and my brain was feeling less foggy that I realized I had been overtaken by a "walker"! 😂
I have now just completed week 4 of the C25K plan after a VERY long sabbatical from running and many attempts before but not getting past week 3.
Like everyone says, there's no such thing as too slow. Any running is better than none at all!
Yes. Anything slower than 10 miles per hour is a waste of time. This is meant to be TRAINING, not a retirement home. Now drop and give me 20, you lazy no-good waste of space, one two, one two, on the double private!
(just for the avoidance of doubt: Don't believe a word I say. Believe the other folks)
Phew!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You got me going there... and for one very scary moment... I believed you!.
If it helps I don't think I'm fast either. I walk at 6 kph on the tread mill and run at 9.0 (started at 8.6 and pushed it slow up). I can't run outside till the tree pollen stops 🤧
You're on week 6 of the plan! Focus on your success! The gremlins want to discourage you and find some fault with what you're doing but ignore them. Or crush them under your feet as you run. As the others have said, these nine weeks are about stamina and time spent running. Running is a different motion from walking and even if we run not much faster than we walk our bodies are still learning a new skill. Speed will come later. Well it might in your case. I'm not seeing much sign of speed in my running yet...!!
