W1R1 Done....slowly!

Just did W1R1 with Sarah M's help.

My runs were like most people's walks, but at least I was moving!

Feeling so unfit but high blood pressure, and being very overweight after 2nd pregnancy are my motivation! Got to get fit for my family!

Could have chosen a cooler day though, baking!

Well done. its definitely worth it. I am still incredibly slow but that doesn't matter. Keep at it, it gets easier , hard to believe in the early stages. This site is so supportive you can do it!

Well done! I did my first run yesterday I was dubious I could do it but did despite being very sweaty. One shower later and I was quite chuffed with myself. Little stiff but a walk and some yoga as eased the stiffness. Keep going had my first night of decent sleep last night in heaven knows how long. My second run is tomorrow and must admit I maybe looking forward to it. If I can do it you can too!!!

Slow is the best way to be. 😀🐢😀 There are no penalties for being overtaken by octogenarians, mobility scooters or tortoises. But, there are plenty of injuries to be had by trying to overtake the same!

Look at it this way, your legs were asked to do something they have either never done or not for a long time. They don't know if you finished the prescribed run or whether you did it faster or slower than you hoped, they are just knackered, plain and simple. They respond by repairing and getting stronger ( hence rest days). Next time you make them do it, if all other factors are identical, it will seem easier. So, why do some runs seem harder than previous ones? Simple, all other factors are not identical, weather, your level of hydration, how the teenager wound you up this morning, the traffic on your route, it all affects the outcome. Just remember any run, good or bad, is better than no run.

My favourite quote at moment " You don't have to be great to start, but you do have to start to be great" .This applies to each run as well as the program as a whole, it's got me out the door on more than one occasion, when all else was failing!!

Embrace your inner tortoise 🐢🐢🐢🐢 and keep us posted👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🏃🏼‍♀️😀🐢👍🏼🏃🏼‍♀️😀🐢👍🏼🏃🏼‍♀️😀🐢

I try and run early on the warm days to beat the heat - it's great if you can 😊

Slow and steady is the way and snail power rules! Early runs are great if you can fit them in.. the heat has affected quite a few of us. Well done you!

someone on here referred to those who struggle with speed as 'shufflers' which I think is a fab term as it definitely describes what I do. I suspect I walk faster than I run. But I can now shuffle for 25 minutes which I think is amazing. Speed and distance can come after graduation.

Wow! Cheers for all the support and advice.

I may have to keep repeating weeks until I get my fitness up and my bp down, but that's fine with me.

Will try for an earlier or later run next time, just all has to work around 14 week old's schedule and family being around to look after both of the girls.

Not making excuse though, next run WILL be Mon/Tuesday!

Well done. Speed is not the important thing, getting out and doing it is.
