Last night I completed my first run and was feeling really motivated to just get out there. I'm looking forward to run 2 tomorrow. The only issue I had was the pain in my calves was pretty sore/tight and it took hours after my run to ease off, Any tips for this?

Just keep moving now you've started. Rest day from running today and hopefully by tomorrow you will feel ok. You can expect to feel it if you have not been used to it

The trick to it is to do the jogging bits only very slowly. That way you are not slamming your legs.

Thank you I just though maybe I was missing an important warm up exercise, even though I had pain im still looking forward to my run tomorrow.

I am a very slower warmer upper so I do a longer warm up. I take a longer warm up walk. I also do some moves in the house first before embarking on the warm up walk

Just a few high knees, jump rope (no rope tho ), arm swings, hip swings, skaters and jumping jacks

I do a longer cool down walk too 🙂

After your cool down walk you can do a few gentle leg stretches (calves, thighs)

Important to stay hydrated too, drink plenty of water on non-running days as well as after your run. Muscles need plenty of water.

Well done on starting the plan and good luck with W1R2 tomorrow.😊

Nice and slow and steady...
