Phone jogged in pocket - confusion!

Must get a Velcro armband! Braved the rain for w3r1 - and wore waterproof w zip pocket. Phone in pocket, earbuds under cap and Sarah said 'you can do it' and then she started to skip about through the podcast. Turns out pocket-jogging not good for technology . Had to resort to ordinary watch and still not convinced I did it. Phone is fine in my hand. Any advice welcome.

I started off with the app and Jo Whiley in my ear but found that it kept stopping and pausing for no reason and, at times, the music wouldn't play so I then went onto the podcast and Laura. The 'music' choices leave a bit to be desired (just endured a week 9 podcast) but it doesn't stop and you know you are running for the right length of time. I use an arm band and my phone also goes in a plastic bag if it's raining and I've also invested in wireless headphones which are waterproof.

I treated myself to an armband & some earphones with ear clippy things around week 3, it really helps, you can just concentrate on what your body is doing rather than fiddling with things.

It is annoying when technology lets you down, you start questioning everything about the run but if you got out there & did your best then you should be proud!

I got an armband and earphones after W2, both from amazon for less than £15

I used an Mp3 player with the podcasts on and of course the lovely Laura.

There is no interference with the podcast, and later just used my phone to record my runs on Strava to track distance. (But you don't have to worry about that yet.. thats for later...just do the time required😊)

Good luck with W3 R2...you are doing brilliantly...

Thanks all - I do appreciate the practical tips and general motivating talk. Good running to you too! (Not sure if I can face divorce from Sarah - but perhaps better now than week 6 or so.)

I deffo recommend an armband i brought one after week1 as was sick and tired of my phone weighing down my pocket and forever having to pull my trousers up. Armband and wireless headphones ya cant go wrong :)

I run with my phone in my pocket with no issues, I just make sure the screen is blank so any "presses" on the screen aren't registered.

I hate those armband things. I find them really uncomfortable. I just run with my phone in my hand.

I tried an armband but with my skinny arms they were too big. I use a running belt from Sports Direct which only cost £4.99 and has a pocket for phone and another littler one for key.

This is the new version of it I think:

Doesn't jiggle around. Cushty.

Have also heard good things about flip belts and moki.

actually I think what would be way cooler would be to run with a really huge old skool 80's boombox on one shoulder.

I tried an arm band, but it made my arm sore. Not a good idea to run with anything in your hand, it unbalances yo... have you tried a flip belt? I got a cheap copy from Amazon and it's brilliant.

You might want to use a safety pin at the top, sometimes the zip comes undone, but these are a quarter of the price of a real flipbelt. I love mine.
