hi i completed W4 R1 this morning, went well once i finally got out there, Is it advisable to get running socks and if so which ones? I'm a size 8/9 so bang in the middle of size range should i go high or low?
Only asking as feet are sweaty and big toenail on right foot a little sore not black mind. Have seen some cheapo running socks on mandmdirect would these be any good?
Have signed up to parkrun, in anticipation of graduating in a month or so's time, night shifts this week but have planned to run wed and fri, straight after my shift which will be a test, fortunately i work for a drinks manufacturer so can hydrate on bottled water all night!
Enjoying journey and find this forum a real boost for my motivation.

I've not run without running socks, so can't make a judgement. Sports Direct do cheap socks but my favourites are Aldi ones, which I have had for ages and only managed to hole one pair.
Sore toe(nail) might be an indication that your shoes are too small in length or possibly width. Feet tend to swell when running and many folk buy half a size bigger than their regular size.
I like Lidl ones. My Karrimor cushioned ones are good for winter. For my races I have some marathon socks from sportsdirect. Had them for ages. They were about a tenner but my husband got them for me for a present
you don't need to pay much. The Lidl ones are about £1.99
Ha ha 🙂 I just got some right and left Nike ones. Weirdly, they have embroidered the right and left letters on the wrong side of each sock, which irritates me each time I put them on 😁
I think they DO make a difference, I get mine from Sport Direct, nice and cushioned! If I remember correctly they are 2 pairs for a fiver, if you buy two packs you get one pack free, so 6 pairs for a tenner, not bad at all! They don't last all that long though, 6 months or so.
