OK so indoors on a treadmill I was on w3r2 so I thought I would venture outside. Oh my goodness!!! I hate running. Every bit of my body hurts. I had to revert back to week 1 and even then I struggled.

Someone tell me it's worth it because all I saw was some very fit runners running past the jogging puffing and walking fat girl!

Of course it was worth it. You did it. you got out there and did it. You're still alive and a bit more alive than before. Well done.

Of course it was worth it. I still jog, puff and walk (and go very red in the face) and fit runners whizz past me, but I'm out there and I'm doing it, and so are you, which is much, much more than most people can say.

Just take it slowly and if you start getting really out of breath then slow it right down even more. It is worth it.

Please don't feel despondent... Running outdoors is the real deal. You find the benefits of exercise PLUS the joys of fresh air/nature etc etc.

You will do this I am sure!

Please, please believe it is SO worth it.

Take it slowly, it doesn't matter how slow, this is only about you. Make sure you take your rest days and trust the programme. If you need to repeat days or weeks that's fine. You'll soon be looking back and feeling proud of what you've achieved.

Good luck with your next run ... and keep posting!

I wouldn't worry about others running past you, it's your challenge not theirs. I got overtaken by someone today in one of my short runs, but as she disappeared into the distance I was able to make quite smug comments to myself about how awful her technique looked, and how she might be doing more harm than good in the long term......

Thank you everyone. Having sat on my bottom again I feel better. One good thing is I was worried about how I looked before I went out. Once I had done 20 mins I really didn't care anymore haha

Many very fit runners started as jogging, puffing and walking fat girls and boys. You've got to start somewhere..........and you have!

The benefits to your health, both physical and mental, as well as your self esteem and sense of well being can not be imagined at this stage but stick with it and you will reap those benefits in bucket loads.

Well done for getting out there. It will get easier.

It is definitley worth it! I am also a super slow, overweight jogger - on my first parkrun I even got overtaken by some walkers! (but they were really tall with really long legs so thats my excuse). But I think the most important thing to remember is that it really is true that nobody else cares how slow you go except you! Everyone is much more focused on their own performance than what you are doing - and at least you are doing something!

I do also hate the idea of people looking at me when Im running, because I also go bright red, but I find that taking my dog along helps - I can tell myself that any people looking my way are actually just looking at her and how cute she is :P

Totally.... you are out there..and it is so different from inside... but you did it.

Forget anyone else... this is you, on your journey, your way. Go as slow as you like and then even slower. and then slower still.

With every slow step, you get stronger, and fitter and closer to where you want to be.:)

Not what you're looking for?
