Hi, I'm a 41 year old mum of 7 and 5 year old girls, who needs to lose a couple of stone. Am sitting here with my roast dinner (SW style) today watching these amazing people running the marathon.

Whilst I'm not aiming that high, I guess 5k will be a good place to start. I've never run in my life so am a little daunted by it, but it'll help me keep up with the kids!!

Wish me luck :-)

Give c25k a go, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain! I have three little monsters at home aged 7,7 and 8. Two of them have come running with me so that may be an option for you. Also mine may come out on their scooters for my faster runs. Otherwise running when they are at school is great! Take whatever time you get and do it. Ideally three times a week but take longer if you need.

Good luck.

Remember the run sections are a slow slow jog and stick religiously to the program

Keep posting and let us know how you get on 👍

I didn't start running until I was 43. Now at 46 a bit addicted. Download the C25k app or podcasts. Good luck hoping to seeing an update soon

I watched the marathon this morning too and am trying to be inspired like you. Thinking 5 k may be a good goal but I have never been able to run. I would have gone out today but it hasn't stopped snowing all day ( Brit living in Canada) so I too intend to take the plunge tomorrow with the week one pod cast. Keep in touch, good luck

Snowing... wow, it's nearly May. It's a gorgeous day on the South Coast of England.

Yes it's nuts here. Snow on ground every day since end of November. April 5 we had 238cm ( new record), today only 88 cm! Forecasting plus 8 degrees C tomorrow. I will start this challenge!

Welcome!

This is a great place... follow the programme, take your rest days... and mainly, keep it slow and steady! The idea is, in the nine weeks, to be running three runs of thirty minutes comfortably! Many of the C25Kers don't make the 5K and many never have... so don;t get too hung up on that...:)

Other exercise on rest days is helpful too, although with your small ones, you will be getting plenty of exercise!

If you get chance, read, melly4012 's post today about her Runniversary.. very inspiring for any Newbies :)

Looking forward to your posts and remember, this is your journey, at your pace and suited to your lifestyle... just don't rush it...enjoy the journey!
