I was dreading it - running outdoors stopped me completely the last time even though I was OK on the treadmill. I decided that today I would just do a week 1 session outdoors to get me back into the right mental state: just about managed it, so "sort of" happy. It didn't feel easy and it should have done. I'll do it again on Wednesday as further mind training because it's definitely not a physical thing. I'm looking after my grandchildrens' dog for the holiday weekend, so today I took him as well and we together went on to complete my local Parkrun 5K course (the rest of the way after the W1 session as a walk). Dog Oscar now has a 5K PB of 53:12!
Just about!: I was dreading it - running... - Couch to 5K
Just about!
My PB (I've never said that before) is 53.05 David... Beat that😉
Luton Wardown Parkrun 25th March (my first one ever & only one to date but I'll be doing more, they're fun): "official" 50:33!! I'm afraid that Oscar's course today was somewhat more than 5K, but thankfully no cats because otherwise I'd have to get learning to sprint. So, your turn ... I'll be going back to do it again very soon and try to get my time down.
Good... I did a 2nd one...Kept catching up with a way and lker very time i caught up with him I had to slow to a walk...And off he would stride. he beat me.
I jogged a bit more on the 2nd one and thought i would have a new PB.. but no my jogging is clearly slower than my fast walking.
I may run here next Saturday, if not I'll volunteer again. Definitely doing one the week after in Glasgow.
If you found it much harder than the treadmill, it might just be that you were running faster than you do indoors. On the treadmill it's easy to set your pace but outside we can set off too fast and pay for it soon afterwards!
Well done anyway. No run is ever a waste and this one brought joy to your furry friend too.
Well done you, good work 😎
well done for getting outside.
