I know this is probably a really stupid question but is it possible to keep track of running stats on a treadmill? I always wear a Fitbit but I like to track my runs as well on MapMyRun or SportsTracker but these just record zero distance etc. Is there anything I can do to get proper data? Any advice grateful received.
Silly question alert!: I know this is probably a... - Couch to 5K
Silly question alert!
I manually put the distance and time ran into my Endomondo app. It just then obviously gives me a uniform average pace rather than the real-life varied stats over an outside run.
I have no other gadgetry and limited knowledge too lol!
Following with interest πππ
You can do similar with MMR. Because these apps work on GPS you cannot track. As Im sure you know, in effect you are standing still from a GPS point of view.
I can wear a foot pod on my Garmin to record stats when indoors, although I've never used one, so don't know how accurate they are, not much help really, am I! lol..I think some fitbits have the feature... See if yours will accept one..π
not really no , the prob with treadmill running is that your actually static in a gps sense,so wont measure distance ,but treadmill will measure it
What fitbit do you have? I only recently found the treadmill function on my charge 2. Not sure if it was always there or added in an upgrade. I think it's quite accurate.
Yes - my TomTom Cardio Runner watch has a Treadmill mode - the GPS gets switched off and it senses the distance from your arm movements. If the distance measured doesn't tally with what the treadmill says you can adjust it on the watch before you upload the data.
You should always be able to make a manual entry to your stats whether you use Garmin, MapMyRun or similar. Just enter basic details like duration and distance and it should calculate average pace/speed if that's of interest.
do you like spreadsheets? if so go over to the dead runners society website and download the logrun spreadsheet. I use it and I find it very useful.

Couldn't find it on the Dead Runners' Society page, but I think this is it: davidhays.net/running/runlo...
Ooh thanks for these. Will have a look.
