A silly question : I suffer from depression and... - Couch to 5K
A silly question
Hi Kev, perhaps you should not have drunk the coffee, there are various sorts of things in coffee that don't mix the medication that you are on, the next time you are at the doctor's ask if it's OK or not to have coffee.
Yes I think I will thank you itβs never happened before so I will be asking him next time I see him π
PS, have you not graduated yet, there are so many here on C25K that have graduated, but the word graduate is not next to your username, if not I have perhaps got a little mixed up with someone with a username a bit like yours.
How much water are you drinking if you're not drinking enough and exercising it can make you feel like that π
Iβm sorry and I hope you will be OK Kevtrev.
Hope you're feeling ok now, try a decaf coffee I find caffeine an issue especially if your body hasn't taken enough water.
I think almore is right and you should check out ur medication, I would just ring your surgery and ask them, have you read the information sheet you got with your tablets it should tell you in there if there is anything you should avoid?! However it could also have just been down to being to warm maybe a water would of been better after a workout! I find that coffee can activate my anxiety so very rarely drink the stuff now! Peppermint tea is great! Hope your OK π
I'm not a medical professional so this is just from experience. I sometimes get shaky and feel a bit odd about half an hour after a strong coffee. This could just be how caffeine affects me.if you have been exercising you might be exhausted, dehydrated and metabolism is running fast. Caffeine is a diuretic so dehydrates you further. Try drinking more water and wait a while before the coffee. Have you checked out the side effects of any medication you are taking? Maybe a conversation with the GP or practice nurse if you are worried. Hope you are ok.
Hello, it might have been your blood sugars dropping. After a workout make sure you eat something to maintain these levels. Nothing too sugary so a banana is always good for a post workout snack.
I would think it was probably a combination of a few things.
I would suggest you drink water instead of coffee. The water will hydrate you better and is free from caffeine which was probably a major factor in making you feel unwell after strenuous exercise.
Be kind to yourself and have a shower at the gym and cool down before driving.
If it happens again see your doctor and don't drive until you get it sorted out.

It's unlikely to be the coffee, it's not contraindicated with most anti depressant/ anxiety meds. Symptoms of anxiety can cause physical effects nausea, breathlessness and palpitations etc which I suspect you know about. I agree with whoever said a combination of things , review your fluid and dietary intake before you undertake strenuous exercise and have a chat with your class coach. Carry on because running and exercise are good for all of our mental health.
As a fellow sufferer (for over 30 years), but someone who drinks a fair bit of coffee, I suspect it's unlikely to have been that on its own. It may be a combination of not having properly hydrated (the caffeine in coffee, as someone else mentioned, is a diuretic), the warmth, a bit of a mood comedown, a or just one of those things. Maybe speak to your GP next time you have your meds reviewed.
Firstly it is not a silly question, that is what we are here for, to point you In the right direction π. Iβm in the court of checking in with your doctor regarding your meds. I used to have an overactive thyroid which causes the heart rate to go higher, hard exercise or coffee would cause my heart rate to go even higher making me feel a bit all over the place if I mixed the two. Get some advice and keep an eye on it as well. Take care. Rfc x
Thank you everyone for your kind and helpful words πππΌββοΈ Iβm much better this morning
This happens to me all the time whenever my heart rate is elevated through excercise, caffeine makes things worst, not much help but the only way i can deal with it is by telling myself it's just anxiety and it will pass.
Try to distract yourself during the episode, music you can sing along to or tv at home whatever helps really, keeping your body cool is also a good thing to do, talking to someone helps also so if you're alone make a phone call maybe? Just throwing ideas out there i suffer with these episodes regularly.
What did you put in the coffee? Some if not most creamers are loaded with artificial ingredients, and these can cause all sorts of strange reactions if you happen to be sensitive to them.
Hey Kevtrev, it's not a silly question at all.... I used to have mild wooziness sometimes when taking driving lessons if I had coffee before the drive.. It could just be a concentration thing with the extra coffee in you but I'd suggest (like most) that you mention it to a doctor or pharmacist
Careful when you mention dizzy spell and driving to anyone, as it only takes a call to the DVLA and there's your licence gone for 6 months.
Thanks everyone for all your kind words so after yesterday I have had trapped wind today probably due from yesterday so I went to the gym at dinner time and then went for a run and I feel so much better rest day tomorrow πππΌββοΈ
Probably!
I donβt know what you might make of it but have a google of Jordan Peterson and his daughter micheala.....I canβt spell
And their diet thing also his 12 rules for life.....keep an open mind and be critical
