Silly Question Time!!

I did week one, day one on Friday, so today is run two day. My local area is very very hilly and I was wondering whether the couch to 5k app works on a running machine. That way I could alter the incline if I want. I want to complete this more than anything!!

Yes it will work fine on a running machine. Set the incline on the machine to 1 degree.

Thanks for that. Then I can treat myself to a swim, sauna and Jacuzzi as a reward afterwards.

Absolutely! Loads of people on here are doing the programme in a treadmill. I did weeks 1-4 on a treadmill before venturing outside and now I mix it up a bit... 😃

I'm doing the programme on a treadmill at the moment..I plan then to run outside...in my case it's because yoga is the only exercise I've done since I last sent to the gym over 20 years ago...In my uninformed opinion it's a good way to make a start..you can still challenge yourself with speeds and incline settings..I was lucky to be given an old but serviceable treadmill for most..it's in my garage convenient..I bought a fan to keep cool which had really helped..I've just finished week 5

Thanks for that. I was so pleased with myself on the first fun. But I ended up brisk walking the last two run segments, the hills here are a nightmare. I have read someone’s post that said ‘walking isn’t failing’, so not kicking myself to hard now.

Looking forward to getting to the gym today for W1R2 👍

Walking is definitely still better than sitting on the couch 😄 they say set the treadmill to one degree incline to make it more like running outdoors (and I think it’s better for your legs to not be running completely flat) but nothing wrong with you setting it higher if you wanted to 😂

Good luck with run 2, I’m only slightly ahead of you having just finished week 2 run 2, so we’ll go through most of it together 😄

Thankyou, it great to have support. W1R2 went really well. I set the incline to 1degree. Someone else mentioned that too. It felt better than running flat.

Looking forward to the rest of it now. Never thought I would be doing this in my wildest dreams. This group is going to be a great help too.

Well done :) and yeah I feel like I’m not gonna get better support anywhere else

Congratulations on finishing Week 5. I can’t wait to be that far into it and see and feel some results.

Have done all my runs on a treadmill so far. Tomorrow is the start of my W5. So it’s a yes. 😁

Thanks for that. Had an amazing session at the Gym. Went really well. Managed to do day two as it should be done. Treated myself to 50 lengths of the pool, sauna and Jacuzzi afterwards too. Really feeling that this is an achievable goal.

Well done on getting to W5. Am looking forward to getting that far into it. Scary, but good scary!! 👍😀

I like good scary! If you want scary: I’ve already enrolled the ballot for London in 2019... I’m super scared! 😱😂 I’m very pleased with my gym, but no pool or jacuzzi there sadly. Would definitely make use of it, if they were! Lucky you!

Wow good for you. I’d love to do London. But think it maybe 2020 at the earliest. Good luck with the ballot. If you get in let me know. I’ll come and cheer you on. Went along this year to see it, so inspirational. Just a dream for me at the moment.

Seeing as there are people who’ve entered multiple times and didn’t get in once, I don’t expect I’ll be so fortunate as to get in on the first try. If so, it’ll be even more scary 😂

Hi, I did the whole 9 weeks on the treadmill, simply because like you my local area is very hilly. I graduated last week but going to do the 30 min runs a few more times just to try to increase my distance. Good luck with your next run.xx

Thank you. I think I will do the same for my 9 weeks too. I can get my swimming done after my run as well. Having never run before this, it’s good that the treadmill keeps me at a steady pace too. Plus I can see just how bad I look in the mirror lol.
