I got up to Week 6 Run 3, which i did last wednesday, problem i have is, i have been working on the garden all weekend, and not got chance to run, and now my hamstrings are killing me, all the bending and drilling etc!
So i am gonna try and run tonight, but will see how i feel later, my question is, how quickly does your fitness tail off?
Am i good to go straight for Week 7 tonight, or shall i re-do week 6?
I had a 5 day break between W7R2 and W7R3 due to a cold and didn't feel like a needed to repeat. Although I did do a walk the day before R3 just to make sure I was over the cold.
Actually just looking back through my planner I have had a few three day rest periods between runs and not had a problem getting back to it.
I'm sure someone with more experience will answer but I'm sure you'll be okay to go for week 7
Thank you - i think im just going to get out, and can always just use it as a practise run! Its more the aching muscles im worried about, but will soon find out.
It's only 5 days, and you've been very active in all that time - think of it as intensive cross-training! You should be absolutely fine to carry on from where you'd got up to, with no need to repeat week 6 - but if your muscles are too sore, then do just be kind to them. No point in risking injury for the sake of it...!
Well its mainly my hamstrings feel a little tight (been for a half hour power walk to see how they held up...all good!) and my shoulders are sore, so im hoping they are two area's which shouldn't be too bad.
I know what you mean. All that bending and kneeling with all your weight on your toes! Modify your position every ten minutes to prevent this seizing up. I just get up, walk about a bit before getting back down. It's easy to find another task to do 😃
Taking your legs for a spin will probably loosen em off 🙂
I did the same thing a few weekends ago - worked to excess in my Garden and the pains in my legs for the next few days were unmerciful.
I really hope you have not added injury by running on the same day
Fitness levels are pretty amazing things - I could not run for the entire month of January but first day back ran for forty minutes no problem and forced myself to stop because I had plenty left in the tank.
Right now I have not been able to run for almost a week or something and its really frustrating and I do worry that the first few runs back will be tougher as a result...but that's the neat thing, it will only be a few if any at all I have all the time in the world really to build up to where I want to be and maintaining it will be a question of ups and downs at times too - but the MAIN THING is not to end up on the IC
Apologies for the late response, have been off work all week, and tend to do my HU posting when at work!
I did my run, and felt no ill-effects whatsoever, though i am currently in limbo with doing the garden, feeling the aches, and trying to fit a run in, but i seem to be juggling it, just!
I havent run since Friday, as have been digging out brickwork in the garden all weekend, and my legs only feel good for something today, but i have a GiveBlood appt tonight at 6, so will hang fire, and go for a run tomorrow night.
