Me and my boy

Tonight, finally after a week and a half of a really awful cold for me, I took my 9 year old out for a run round the block. He amazed me! I thought he wouldn't last much more than a kilometre but we ran for 2.5k and he probably could have gone further except we were back at home. His pace was fantastic too, probably I was slowing him down so he didn't go off too fast but we averaged 6.08mins per k. He was really chuffed, and so am I #proudmum

I have to say after all the recent time off I found it a bit hard work, but I am not used to running and having to concentrate on someone else, especially when that someone else wants to chat like all 9 year olds do!

In other news, I have just registered for Parkrun and plan to do Ipswich Parkrun with a friend this Saturday as I have the day off for a change. Might even take the young'un with me!

What a fab post, well done to you both. I think children are great little runners when they are enthusiastic! Not such a joy when they are flagging but with oodles of encouragement they do great stuff. I am so sad when I see children crying as they are being pushed too hard. My girls have done the 5k parkrun as a walk/run to start and quickly got to running around. Register your son as well and see how you get on.

brilliant, lovely pic and well done to your son. Id say he will LOVE it. My son started parkrun with me age 11 and he has slowly chipped off his time and its now 21 minutes and he is 15 now. Great bonding time too :)

Thanks ju-ju- He did indeed love it! I tried to get him interested in Junior parkrun but he said the distance was too short!!!
