Week 7 run 3 - First time I could listen to the music

Im a bit of an overweight old guy and I guess like a lot of people I started couch to 5K because I thought I needed to get more exercise. I have to admit that until now it has been really hard work and I have often wondered why I bother. BUT... today I did my normal thing, got into my gear started my app and music and started plodding along my usual route, really hard work as always forcing myself to keep running. Then after around 15 minutes I found I was listening to the music and then before I knew it the app was telling me to start my cool down. So I thought I would share this. I dont know if I have cracked this running thing but finally I see light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully you will too!!

It's so great when you reach that point isn't it? Well worth all your effort!

Fantastic. I too am an overweight old guy and I must say it's inspiring to read your post. Thanks

I'm looking forward to reaching that point. πŸ˜‚

Great effort.

By Jove he's cracked it ! It won't always be like that but those runs where it just seems effortless are worth all the pain. Summer's coming and you're ready to run !!

If you are fitter, healthier, slimmer at the end of the programme then it's been worth it. Once you get to Graduation, your running opens up to running longer, then that's when real transformation takes place. You will get much fitter and stronger, and find yourself much more toned. Eating and drinking healthily along the way obviously πŸ™‚

You'll wonder why you didn't do it before 😁

I can now run up to 10k BUT i find every single run that the first twelve minutes for me is tough. It has to be mind over matter for those tough starts. I know its the body adjusting to realising I am running, so i just remind myself of that until it settles. Now you are running constant without walk intervals why not note how long it takes you to settle into the run?

Isn't great when that happens? I still have to push myself through the first 10 minutes but then I could run to the end of the Earth. Keep going, graduation is just around the corner πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒ
