Week 5 Day 2

Today was day 2 of week 5 and I think it was all in my head, but 2 times I stopped during the 8 mins segment and then gave my head a shake and went back to running...probably 20 seconds each time. I'm not going to attempt day 3 yet. My plan now is to repeat week5 next week and give it my all :)

Don't be downhearted. I think half the battle is in your head. I was talking to someone about how I'd never be able to run for 20 mins before, this was at the gym but they chatted along and before I knew it I'd done it - it was the distraction that I needed. I'm a starter again at week 4 tomorrow & when it gets tough I start my mantra 'can do, can do', may slow down but get there.

You're over half way... keep at it 🏃‍♀️🏃

thanks for the encouragement. I find it is a mental exercise too, I have run 3 marathons, but over the last 2 years I gained weight, had a baby and eventually the running stopped. I know I can do it, I used to do it, but I keep comparing myself to my old self and think 'oh she's long gone, don't even bother'...

this is a great program, starts slow and eases into it, builds confidence, glad I came across it.

No ... it's easier said than done, but you can't think that.

I've never been very good at running, and I've gained a lot of weight but I've always wanted to try a marathon or half marathon. My mean mind is telling me I'll never do it... but I've made a decision to ignore it, it's my own challenge, I'm competing against no-one and I'm just going to try.

You'll always have doubts but that person is never gone, there's just a few other things that keep you busy. Keep at it!! You've run 3 marathons, you've proved you can do it...why not again. Good luck 😉

Week 5, has day 1 with running 5 mins with 3 min walk breaks, so 5 min warmup, run 5, walk 3, run 5, walk 3, run 5, 5 min walk cool down...day 2 is 5 mins warmup, run 8, walk 5, run 8, 5 min walk...

I was having a hard time mentally, getting to the 8 mins and i'm going to repeat week 5 for another couple weeks I think. Just can't get myself confident enough to do the full 20 mins yet. that is required for day 3 of week 5.

My plan has been to repeat day 2 on day 3, decreasing the walk break until im more confident.
