Today is my first runniversary. It was a year ago today that I did Week One Run One of the Couch to 5k program. I thought I was dying but clearly wasn't as I'm still here one year on. I am SO thankful for this past year and I'm loving being fitter, and part of a wonderful and encouraging community of runners!
I'm even thinking of popping out later to look at celebratory trainers at Run4It...
I've registered for a 10k in April (which a year ago was well beyond my wildest dreams) but will in fact be the second official 10k I've participated in. A few weeks ago they sent an email offering the chance to go along tomorrow (25th Feb) and try the course. I thought I would sign up to do that. And then yesterday there was another email saying - quite nonchalantly I thought - that there has been 8 inches of snow but not to worry. The practice tomorrow is going ahead. Yikes!
I was worried about being last in the group tomorrow as I'm still a slowcoach and 10k is still a big challenge for me. But folk in another forum have encouraged me to go ahead. And actually now I'm seeing a possible advantage to being last. All the speedy ones in front of me will tramp down a nice flat path for me to follow in...

8 inches of snow! Well that is dedication! Ha, ha - Good idea about those in front making a nice flat path for you. Congratulations on your runniversary.
Happy Runniversary Anne. I can't believe it's been a year! That's a brilliant idea to try out the course first. I've never seen that before but I wish all race organisers would offer it. But maybe wellies rather than your running shoes are more in order π
Enjoy your next running year and I hope you're celebrating tonight πΈπ·πΎ
I wondered about a sledge too! Might be cheating. But if you fall on your bum and just slide down a slope without the aid of a sledge I guess that wouldn't be...?
Congratulations!!! You made it this far. Well done. I think that to mark the occasion it's only fair you should treat yourself to new shoes. You earned them. Have a lovely time. Show us what you get!
I hate snowballs! Especially snowballs down the back of my neck...
Actually, I once said, "I'm allergic to snowballs" to my kids (to stop them throwing them at me). A lady I knew was standing nearby and said - and I kid you not - "Hello Anne. May I introduce you to my friend, Mrs Snowball". Yes, that was her friend's actual name. #awkwardmoment
Thank you Poppy. By the way, Tesco have very cute pug socks just now. Did you know? Not socks for pugs. Socks with pictures of pugs on them, for human ladies.
Ah yes ! I've seen them I have lots of Pug socks , a onesie , shorts and vest top pyjama set, cushions , mugs , purse , slippers and 2 real live pugs ! xxx
Running in snow is hard work! It will be beautiful though. And don't worry about cold feet or anything, we had snow for the first 6 weeks of the year and being cold was never a problem once I got moving. Good luck, have fun. And what a great way to celebrate a runniversary!
Congratulations Anne on your runniversary and good luck with your 10k - the snowy practice run and the actual event. I hope to be back out there soon. ππ»ππ»ππΌββοΈππΌββοΈππππ
