W6R2 Against the odds

I have the feeling the Universe doesn't want me to complete this week... but I don't care about your plans, Universe! I am determined!

I guess you remember I had to stop mid-run on Monday because an encounter with an old friend and wasn't sure about moving onto the next run. Well, yesterday I was ready to go when I realised I couldn't find my keys... after half an hour of searching, I found out I left them at work the day before, I just didn't need them because my husband opened the door for me the previous night. So if I left the home I couldn't get back in... and after the run I need to get home and get ready for work... in the end I had to stay home and did some yoga instead to pass the frustation. BTW, if you have the Fitstar Yoga App, there is a great stretching session for runners in their freestyle section.

So today, I had my morning coffee, put on my running shoes and off I went only to discover my phone had run out of data and I couldn't play the podcast! Ahhhrg!! I walked to the closest Pret just so I could use their wifi, I didn't even get in, just stood outside waiting for the episode to download.

It took it ten minutes, but after that I was (finally!) good to go. The run was ok, I didn't find it too difficult. My biggest problem are my legs now, they still get painful when they're too tired, particularly the left. I also get numb toes... is this normal?

So my next session is supposed to be on Saturday, which is going to be a problem, because I'm going to spend the weekend in Bristol and I don't know how I'm going to find the time! Maybe I'll do it Sunday after I get back home... I'll keep you posted!

Well done 😄 you were determined to get that run in today no matter what..

Good luck with R3 when you get chance to do it..enjoy your weekend in Bristol (are you taking your running gear just in case..there is a flat bit along by the harbour where lots of people run..plus cafes and toilets... )😊xxx

Good to hear that you didn't use the obstacles as an excuse. Would you have done that 6 weeks ago?

Definitely no, 6 weeks ago I wouldn't even imagined myself running!

Sounds frustrating! The running is the easiest bit. It's all the peripheral crap we go through that does one's head in. Good idea about Pret!

There is some good running to be had in Bristol if you get time. Have fun!

It's mad the lengths those gremlins go to in order to try and stop you running, isn't it? Well done for going out anyway. Regarding your numb toes, do you perhaps have you laces too tight? With your leg pain do you have any particular muscles which might benefit from stretches? Enjoy your weekend away!

My hamstrings get particularly stiff, especially the left. I feel like it is constantly sore. When I warm up a bit they don't bother me anymore, but when I wake up in the morning I walk like an old lady!

Do you stretch your hamstrings after running too? That's what helped the most with my aches the next day.
