So I finished week 1, then I realised how unfit I was. Before I was diagnosed with MS I ran, did Muay Thai, and strength training, I was reasonably fit. I have gained 3 stone in weight, and now I have this crashing weight of depression and disappointment on me. I know I have taken the first step, but running for 30 minutes so seems so far away!
Week 1 done. : So I finished week 1, then I... - Couch to 5K
Week 1 done.
You've finished week 1 - that's an achievement in itself. I know it seems a huge mountain to climb but that's when you look at it from 60 second runs to 30 minutes. I do remember being terrified at the prospect! And feeling that it was an impossible dream.
It's not! I was 3 stone overweight when I started. The programme is SO well put together. It's such a gradual increase in time each week that you don't even realise how far you've come until you look back.
Not only will you be getting fitter but the very act of running, (gentle jogging) is a mood lifter, particularly if you're running outside.
Don't give up. There are so many of us on here, every age and every ability and every shape, all ready to run alongside you. Give week 2 a go and let us know how you go...☺
Welcome!! The C25k programme is simply amazing, following it will change your life and be one of the best decisions you'll ever make. 30 minutes does seem far away now but it did for all of us here at the beginning. Stretch, listen to Laura, go slowly, take your rest days and before you know it you'll be running for 30 minutes!
It will do wonders for your health, both physical and mental.
