On 14/05/16 I did W1R1 and it was hard. I was 50 years old, unfit and about 1.5 stone over weight. With aches and pains, trials and tribulations and summer holidays, it took me 6 months to graduate. I joined a running club to get me through those dark winter nights and took up Parkrun. I'm not fast - but I'm faster than anyone sat on their couch! That is my running journey. I don't always love it, but I hate not being able to do it.

You can do it too. Stay off the couch and keep on running - slow and steady🐢👣🏃🏿❤️

Great post and thanks for sharing. I totally understand your comment about hating not being able to run. Like you I took more than nine weeks to graduate but it has been worth it, everyone one of those extra weeks helped my body to adjust and become the runner I am today. Happy running.

Well done! I started (officially, I'd done a couple of practice runs) 2 days after you and aspire to a min/mile pace like that... my fastest (once) has been 11.59 - still, under 12! In my defence I was 5 years older and 1.5 stone heavier!!

Lovely post.

Great post.. and real encouragement for anyone starting out..or on the journey :)

It is really horrid when you can't run.. you are right..! Thanks for posting and many more happy runs x

Great post ! If I wasn't 10 years older we could be twins !! I started about April 2016 and about 1 1/2 stone overweight. I was about 3 stone overweight and shifted about 1 1/2 stone of it 2 years prior to starting C25K. Becoming semi-retired at 60 gave me a bit more time to take up running . I was possibly heading towards being diabetic and Doctor was indifferent to the idea of running at best.

Some runs I love more than others but hate it if I can't do my routine run. Run similar time about 35 minutes for 3 1/4 miles. Now I'm near top end of normal BMI , fit and mentally sharper, studying and enjoying stuff !

Happy running !

It is fast! But you're right, anyone running is faster than those on the couch. Great inspirational post. :)
