Happy New Year to everyone....

Well, first day of the new year, and already broken a rule, did feel well chuffed afterwards though!!!!

Went out this morning for my normal Sunday jog, always try and go slightly further at the weekend and have managed to get to 7.5 km since I graduated in September, 4 months ago.

Well in the rain I ran my normal 4km (just over) in 30 minutes, and decided that I was going to try to achieve 10 km... I know that meant breaking the 10% rule and going from my longest run of 7.5k to 10km!, but I wanted to give it a go, and can't run now until Friday as have a lot on this week, so knew I'm going to get 4 days rest in afterwards.... After 7 km I took it very slow and steady, just head down, and keeping one foot in front of the other, soaked to the skin at this stage, but carried on.... Was elated when I saw the magic 10km appear on my Garmin, and a time of 1 hour and 17 minutes, not fast by any standard, but a definite PB for me!!!!

Long hot bath when I returned home, and an hour or so in front of the TV watching a DVD was earned I felt, went to get up after film, and legs very stiff, but ok.....

Very proud of myself, funny the way this running lark gets under your skin isn't it!!!!

Well done! Feels amazing doesn't it. 10k is a great distance to crack. You'll run many, many more.

I did 10k today in the rain as well. Heavy legged after eating a stodgy meal last night so it felt great to be out. Like you, a hot bath was lovely afterwards.

Well done and it sounds as if you were ready for it having previously built up your distance. Btw were you aware that the 10% rule refers to 10% of your weekly total? So you probably weren't breaking that rule by much! Great start to the new year☺!

Oh right, didn't realise it was 10% of weekly total. Makes me feel a bit better now!
