I've failed the first hurdle as it's taken about 20 minutes to work out how to post LOL!!!
I'm 52' spent the last five years enjoying good food and drink, but unfortunately I'm now carrying an extra three stone and firmly fixed to the couch. 2017 has to be the year that I claim back my body and my fitness and my ultimate goal is to climb killimanjaro on the 7th September 2017. The work begins on 1st of January by giving up alcohol and following this couch to 5k (mine is couch to killi, hence the title). I'll keep you posted how I get on, but if anyone wants to join me on my weight loss journey it would be great to have company.

Wow what a fantastic aim! Well I'm with you for the weight challenge & fitness regime!! I joined slimming world in Aug 16 and started running same time๐Lost just over a stone so far but like you would really like to get another 1.5stone off this year! So here's to our slim new year๐๐look forward to hear how you get on p. s I'm 60 in July so if I can completec25k anyone can ๐ Never ran before but I must say I'm a slow runner!!! But better than sitting on the couch!! Good luck๐
Amazing goal, I'm with you for the fitness and weight loss challenge as I'd like to do the Grand Canyon 'Bright Angel' trail and at the moment I'm just not ready for it...
About 4 or 5 years ago I did the three peaks & know what a lot of training it takes to get hill fitness - happy to give you some tips if you're interested. C25K is a good start place๐
I'm with you KC. Also 5'2" and 2-3 stone overweight. I've already started C25k and am struggling away with too much flab at week 7. However I've not started dieting or healthy eating; the excuse was to wait till after Xmas but come 1 January I'll have run out of excuses! Your challenge sounds massive - I'm in awe, but I'll be with you all the way. I'm using the treadmill at the moment BTW as I don't think my joints could stand tarmac with the extra weight, but hope to progress outside in the spring. Good luck!
That's a great challenge you've set yourself, well done! Don't worry about it taking you a while to post, I remember it took me some time too. Then I noticed you could add a picture to your alias. It's pretty straight forward but I think you need to be on a laptop or PC to do it. Good luck with your journey and welcome to our virtual family of Runners! ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐๐ป๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐
I had similar goal (not about mountains) about 2 1/2 years ago was just over 13 stone and and got down to now 10st 4lbs which is 2lbs above what my normal BMI should be. sometimes it goes down 1 or 2lbs. But I am happy with that. If over 2017 that comes down a bit further then fine. Lost 1 1/2 stone over 2014 -2015. Lost other 1 1/2 stone since starting C25K in March/April.
have gained 5 to 6lbs over xmas holiday but am still doing my running at a slightly sloweer pace. Once mince pies etc. are out of sight and routine back then confident that will come off. Compared to lethargic me last year it's all looking good.
I'm 60 and semi-retired had high blood pressure and was pre-diabetic. Now running 6K+ and feel great and avoided a potential future on medication. As others will say take it slowly and repeat weeks on the programme if need be. It definitely works.
Brilliant goal. Have to admit I read your title as 'Couch to kill!' and got quite excited... but anyway, you're doing a great thing so good luck with the different elements of your preparations and training :). Look forward to hearing how it is going as the weeks pass.
With you too!!! Giving up the drink is my nemesis. I love a glass of vino or a few G&T's. Can do the food bit but being on my own means long boring nights ๐ข๐ข๐ข. Good luck & im sure u can do it with that as a goal
