I'm a shadow of my former self!

The C25K programme was a huge challenge to me as I hated cross country running at school but a year on from graduation aged 53, I love running, wouldn't miss it for anything and even get up a stupid o'clock to go out before work. I remember when I was plodding through the C25K programme thinking I ran so slow, I would soon be going backwards and my little legs ached so much, the only thing that helped was lying in bed with the electric blanket on full to soothe them. I asked myself if this would ever be fun! Great advice though all the way through that a year later I still find helpful. I actually enjoy running nowadays too, my fitness is good, I run at a pace I find works for me and because I have increased distance, I can find new places to explore. Now I am being more sensible with my food, I am also losing weight too - but I know I would still reward myself with food given half the chance!

It's so lovely to hear all the positives, especially a year on. Looks like it's given you super long legs too :)

If only! My Mum always said I had "toffee legs"! Not sure it was meant as a compliment though, they aren't built for speed but they can plod well

Thank you for that. I graduated in July and still don't really love running, just too stubborn to give up. It's good to know that someone else felt like that too but is still running and enjoying it now. Good for you ๐Ÿ™‚

Give it time. It honestly does get easier, I suppose because we get stronger and then it really is a pleasure - except perhaps for running uphill!

Bless you and very well done for your stubbornness - it is working for you! The only thing I feel has helped my enjoyment is that I go out regularly (so my fitness and stamina are improved) plus slowing down has improved my enjoyment
