Having posted the pic of my new shoes yesterday, I had to follow through on my plan to test them out this afternoon. We took the dogs for a gentle walk after lunch, then by the time we got back it was definitely time for me to get ready to run so I could go out in daylight, for once! DD2 decided she wanted to cycle with me again, so got dressed in record time, and off we went.
Mr Rainbow was very amused by my excitement as I put my shoes on and said how comfortable they were, but was very glad to hear it! And oh, they are *lovely*. Through the warmup walk I could feel how nice and cushioned they were, and as I started running, it just felt even better!
Since DD2 was coming with me, I thought we'd better head along the lane out of the village up to the main road and back again, as that's far more fun for her than just looping round the cul-de-sacs - and it's a route j don't often get to do at the moment as I won't do it after dark. The main hill comes after about 3 mins of running, and takes a couple of mins to get up, but then it levels off just as Laura says that's five minutes done. Getting up to the main road took the next five minutes and was mentally tough, but I practised the positive thinking tips that I'd been reading about in my new mag just before I came out!
All of a sudden Laura told me I was half way through, and it was all feeling good. And a couple of minutes later when I knew I had just ten minutes to go, I *knew* I could do this. Really knew it. (And not just because I was on the long downhill stretch back into the village, honest! )
Round the first cul-de-sac to add a few minutes, round the second one, and one minutes left to go. Back up the road towards the edge of the village, and DONE! Twenty five whole minutes. Amazing!
As I was walking back, I realised that there's only five minutes to add, then I'm doing the full thirty minutes! For the first time since April, this feels achievable! Who knows how long the next three weeks might take me - but I KNOW I'm going to do it! π
