I went out over the weekend after resting for several days due to bad back pain, I got home.. remembered my stretches and yay no back pain. The exercises I got off the NHS site really helped and plus I was sensible when I did run again. I listened to my body, checked my positioning, my stride, footfall, arms....everything, plus I slowed down a bit. Now I will complete Wk9 a few times then maybe see about Stepping Stones but if I feel it's too fast ...I will just slow down!
Best wishes to everyone for a Very Merry Christmas

Thank you, I was surprised how I missed the running.. It must be becoming a habit! Merry Christmas 🎄🎅
Good to hear you are better and back to running. I too have had a few days of back pain and have not run for a week but am hoping to go out again soon. Well done!
I too went out this morning and started slow then felt OK so went a bit quicker with just a dull ache in my bum cheek (back pain related). I managed to get a quick third mile in for a new 5k pb but then had to slow up for the last 2k with some hip flexor pain. 7k done but I will have to see how I feel over the next few days!
Hiya - same here! I've just rested for 8 days.... I have had a bad back, hips/pelvis etc for a long time ... I had built up to a 7k (gently) with the right footwear/technique. I just couldn't believe how rubbish my body felt! Thanks for highlighting those stretches, I will have a go at those next time I go out.. for a gentle and shorter run I was really beginning to think that running was not suited to me ... but I'm only 42, fairly healthy and therefore it shouldn't be a problem! I really don't want to give up after all this hard work fingers crossed our backs allow us to continue! And just in case, I found a good chiropractor offer on Groupon
I went out this morning and all is fine again, I have cut my speed and distance slightly as I think I was just pushing too far. I have remembered to stretch afterwards, I'd forgotten to stretch after my runs when my back started hurting so may have had something to do with the pain. Good luck with your run again and Merry Christmas 🎄🎉
I've not been doing the stretches... it's a painful lesson to learn!! Thanks for your post and helpful tips - I'm just weighing up whether to do the south sea park run on Christmas Day, will see how it goes!! Have a lovely Christmas!!
