Please feel free to share your runs here and chat about how it's all going, sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week.
If your a lurker it is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.
Wishing you all a happy healthy week.

Busy week this week, only managed a very poor 5km run and a 5km walk. An extra glass of vino has taken its toll, still proud that I haven't gone silly on the alcohol though, I'm just not used to it. Another busy week this week but I'm aiming to do at least a couple of runs.
Coming back from a two week cold, I managed to do 32 minutes last night, meaning that I still feel on course for the Christmas Eve Parkrun - I covered 4.2km, but felt like I still had more in the tank.... going to look to go out again probably tuesday or wednesday, and aiming for distance rather than run for a specific time....
sometimes having a week off gives your muscles a well earned rest and you wouldn't believe the boost it gives your legs, some of my best PB's have been after a break, 2 weeks is too long though so get out there and do 8.2, start slow and I bet you enjoy it.
Hey. Had an insane busy weekend which meant I didn't manage the 3rd run of my HM plan. Fortunately its a 7k, so plan is to catch it up this afternoon (this week is much calmer).
That means my plan for this week is
Monday 7k
Wednesday 7k
Friday 5k
Saturday 14k
I almost never run consecutive days (got to take care of the knees), but a few weeks back the training plan had me do Friday then Saturday and nothing terrible happened. Sound reasonable if I take it gently ? I really want to do the 14k on Saturday as I think it will set me up for the weekend, so if anything has to give it will be Friday.
Merry Christmas everyone and good luck to you c25k winners you're awesome!
I started c25k last November and 10 weeks later had graduated, and that was after 20years of an unfit lifestyle, sure I was strong as I did manual industrial work and I tried to eat healthy, but I was definitely not fit anymore. It all came to a head when I moved into a 3 story townhouse and found myself out of breath by the time I got to the top floor.
The C25K app may well have saved my life, when I started I struggled on the first day, I'm now 47 and entering the risky age for overweight men, but a year on from graduating and I've signed up for a 10 miler in February with my daughter and last night I went out and ran 6km without stopping and I felt like I could have done 7 or 8 but I'm on a plan so stopped.
A few things I've learned over the past year;
I can do more!
I can overdo it!
Start SLOW!
I need a target!
I need to follow a plan!
Podcasts are better than music (my opinion)
Minimalist trainers can be better than expensive cushioned trainers
I now run in Nike Flyknits which are like socks with rubber soles on all my training runs and only use my Asics for long runs as I've struggled with painful Achilles and calves (hence the slow progress since graduating) now my tendons and muscles are stretching back to where they should be and I'm not incurring injuries. I watched an ultra video last week where the guys run barefoot or in sandals!!!!
This site is an awesome source of motivation and advice and without it I probably wouldn't be still running and getting healthier so for all of my friends on here a huge thankyou.
I hope those who have missed runs can get back out there. Those jobs keeping you from exercise will still be there when you get back, so lace up those shoes and go. It's not like it takes long π
I had a good week last week. Fastest 10k ever! I have 2 recovery runs to do and two build-up runs before deciding on my next race plan. I can mull that over in the next few days. I will need daydreaming space as it's getting a bit full on what with Christmas jobs stacking up and a big birthday for my husband tomorrow. I think running is going to be my sanity. The celebrations started yesterday, involving a long drive. I was knackered when I got home and went to bed after some toast. I wasn't even driving π
Running today at some point. Might make it an errand as I have stuff to collect from Next. Zoom .......................
Hi! I'm a long-time lurker but this thread looked like a good opportunity to say hi
Back when I was 29 (4 and a half years ago), I did my first (and so far only) 5k run but since then my fitness has deteriorated and my waistline expanded!
Today I completed Week 4 Day 2 with what was actually my fastest pace for the whole programme so far
Struggling to fit in three runs this week as busy both with Christmas and work (I can often work from home which allows me to fit in my outdoor runs in daylight but this week need to be in the office 3, maybe 4 days). Upside is that there is a small gym at work so hit the treadmill yesterday. Can't do straight running on a treadmill as it bores the pants off me but had another go at intervals yesterday. My first attempt at intervals a few weeks ago was a disaster as the quads said a definite NO, but managed 2 lots of 5min at 10kph followed by 5min at 6.5 k (fast walk) yesterday and no ill effects so far. Aim is to get to a 30m 5k sometime next year ...
Getting there...back out in the fresh air again and so far, so good Ribs more or less healed!
Building up my distances a tad, and enjoying, enormously my short runs.. 3K, and my faithful 5K. Doing an awful lot of walking... with a pram in front of me.. averaging 9 miles each day, even on my run days.... and loving every moment!
I'm still around. (Was londonred and a graduate). Not running as regularly as I'd like to at the moment, so I'm checking in for inspiration! I know I need to get back into it though, my mental health seems to slide when I'm not running regularly.
Greetings all! I hope everyone is having festive time, without too much stress. I have been sticking with my 3x a week workouts, trying to manage between 2-2.5 miles or 40ish minutes. Last Wed. the 21st I had a nice outing on the river trail in my town, which had a 5k loop. I haven't been out there except to walk in quite a while and had a good combination of a quick paced walk and some jogging. It seemed like a good way to start welcoming back the longer days Yesterday was spent at on indoor track/fitness centre, then shopping (which probably added an extra mile in aisles and between shops!) Tomorrow is a traveling day, so I'm hoping to get a good 45 minutes or so in before having to spend time in a plane and car. Thanks again to this fabulous forum for all the good information and inspiration! Cheers to you all!
