5k - after 13 weeks I did it!

Yay - so chuffed! I ran my first 5k ever yesterday! OK so Usain Bolt has nothing to fear but I did it - in 41 mins 45 seconds. And to think when I started this C25K malarky I couldn't even run for a bus...

So the moral of the story is - if this 55 year old, a couple of pounds overweight and very unfit female can do it, anyone can!

Four weeks now to get parkrun fit in time for the virtual parkrun on Christmas Eve (need to get a little quicker as I absolutely refuse to be last!). Will start looking out for a Santa hat Flossie22 and Pc59 :-)

Well done you ! I finished W9 this week and now need to build up to 5k. The difference now is that I believe I can do it !

Wow, that is amazing, 5k is a long way to run isn't it? Very respectable time too, my first was 43 minutes at a graduation parkrun! My fastest ever was 34 minutes - but I have found running slowly and increasing distance has been more fun for me. Also, I often run in the dark, sometimes in the woods - so at 53, I want to stay on my feet so safety wise it is better for me. Now you can cover 5k, think about the new interesting places you can run!
