I did it

Well I did it, from graduating from C25K to a half marathon in less than a year. lots of standing around before as last wave to go and even more standing around after the finish. Well organised except after the finish did the penguin shuffle for 1 1/4 hours so got very cold and muscles seized up. Achieved a great time for my first official big distance of 2:11:41. Found I could not slow my pace down until I was totally knackered for the last three miles. Managed to control the negative thoughts and ran the whole distance even though mind said it’s a Parkrun now you can walk that. Raised £1565 so far in memory of mum and the Pilgrims Hospice. Our team of 4 fundraisers are now at£4662 would be so great to get to £5000.

Many thanks all it was hard and one off the bucket list. I have no intention of doing that distance or above again. Maybe lower distances and that will be in time.

Congratulations 🎉👏🏼🎉 Very well done indeed. And a brilliant memorial to your mum and gift to the hospice. They always deeply need this kind of support so they can be there when we need them. You’re definitely a Stayer to have pushed up to that HM distance so soon. I certainly couldn’t run that far yet! 😳 Even if you don’t fo it again, you have the satisfaction of knowing you did it once, and for such a good cause. 😄👍🎉

Thanks Granspeed yes I have done it maybe smaller distances in the future. Will stick with 5 or 10Ks no more big ones the old bones don’t like it.

No, mine neither I’m sure. My big aim is to get to where 10k is “just another run.” If I can do that, I’ll just stick there as long as I can. 😄 Happy running now!

You can do it just remembered the C25K if it got hard slow done a little had to at the end I was knackered. Wife filmed me at 13 miles and said I was still looking good she didn’t know how knackered I was and the fight I was having to not stop. I saw all these others walking but was determined that wouldn’t be me. It was a run from start to finish.
