W8R2 - so excited....

And I just can't hide it... lol I'd like to preface all of this by saying it was so cold this morning you could spit and kick it (23 degrees Fahrenheit). But I dressed in my layers, and took comfort in the "add 15-20 degree" rule and convinced myself it was closer to 50 than freezing...

So I did complete W8R2 - which felt like an achievement in itself - as per, the first 5-6 minutes the Gremlins were hanging onto my arms and legs, pulling downward, and filling my head with nonsense: but, as per, I shook them off, and settled in to a nice pace with my breathing become steady and rhythmic. At some point in previous weeks, I remember Laura suggesting in-breath for a count of 4 in time to your feet, and out-breath for the same. I tried that - I really did - but after 2 breaths felt like, "no! no! not enough air coming in!! need more air!!!" So for the remainder have been doing in-breath for a count of 2 - and out-breath the steady same... I feel like I graduated to a new level today as I pushed to in-breath for a count of 3!

I would say, "baby steps," but can one really say "baby steps" if one has just completed 5.03k in 38 minutes (28 min run + warm up & down). I think not. I ain't no baby - I'm a runner (Laura said so) - taking strrrrrrides.

Have a fabulous day everyone!!

Well done for shaking off those gremlins. They seem to get everywhere. :-)

I'm starting week 8 at the weekend - I did complete the programme up to Week 8 Run 3 back on October, but then had to start from Week 1 again after some surgery, so I'm looking forward to completing it again, and hopefully getting to Week 9 too (although I'm seeing my surgeon on Friday - so I'm hoping he doesn't say I need anything else doing).

Keep up the Big Girl strides. :-)

Well done! I seem to have been on week 8 for ages! I got there a while back, then got ill and had 2 weeks off so went back a week, have now done week 8 runs 4 times I think. Maybe I'll move on to week 9 soon....
