W8R2 - no dog, no breaks - 4!

Sorry, I am terrible at selfies.

Not sure if I survived, but I completed this run - thank you lusmo .

Drowning in sweat, monarch red on face, legs can't decide lead or cottonwool. Lungs and all chest laying somewhere in the middle of the road.

Running without my dog let me for full continuous run without distractions. I covered 4.2km during this 28 minutes. I had toxic 5, followed by toxic 15. Last 10 minutes was pure prayer for each step. But I give it all, including picked up pace during last 3 minutes and full speed during last minute (well full speed I could squeeze out of me). Finished, nearly felt down on the ground. I managed to crawl home. Catching breath and water. Slowly becoming to feel like human, so it's stretching time.

It's time to start count down - 4!

Good runs will come!

Nice photo of you IgaT (although I had to rotate my Smartphone, 😂 lol) , your face isn't too red❤️, one more 28 minute run and 3/30 minute runs and low and behold you will have graduated 🎓 😊

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to AlMorr

Oh, it was VERY red. The photo lies a little. I was lying and not able to move, no rotation needed. Just me, nearly dead.

Yes, it is very close :D

lusmo profile image
lusmoGraduate in reply to IgaT

If you are near death, you look quite happy! :-D

I seem to look much worse after 28 minutes of running :-D

Woop woop well done you

I'm the expert in leaving lungs in the road as you know so if I remember rightly your advice was sniff back up through your nose lol🤣

Only 4 to go till the hard work starts but you can do it runner

Well done and enjoy your rest

You got this

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to Wolvesmad

I can't sniff, as I constantly blow my nose :P it's a wrong bloody direction!

But maybe after shower it will get better :) stretching does help. Soon, last stage with legs against the wall.

This is an interesting technique after running.

I do not do anything like that. But I read an interesting book from Jeff Manion.

He says he does exactly the opposite than expected: Cold shower instead of warm, walk instead of rest ... But it is the fact that he runs a marathon...

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to lusmo

I know cold shower is good, but my body hates it. I could do ice cold bath, like after sauna (Scandinavian style I guess). Shower, nah nah.

Walking is good, but tomorrow. Today I crawled out the shower, as my stomach screamed for food, and I managed to reach the couch which is 5 difficult steps away from the table to rest and warm myself up, as my super dog is on it and heating me nicely.

Marathon... Well... When I reach that stage I may be doing cold showers and after run walks :P call me in 50 years to heck it out ;)

Ha ha... :-D

Never say never... ;-)

I didn't say never, but in 50 years :P

I'm not sure if the connection will still work for so long time... :-D

The time will show. With my "speed" of completing running programs, it seams reasonable deadline. I am doing C25K for approximately 1,5 or 2 years now :P

Well done you! I'm doing this run tomorrow but still feeling achy from yesterday's efforts.

lusmo profile image

I wish nice rest. We can do it! :-)

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to Running-nana

You can and you will do it! I believe in you! If I managed to do it today, you definitely can do it tomorrow ;)

Maybe some hot bath? And good night sleep as an extra recovery treatment?

Thank you, it's just mind over matter a lot of the time isn't it. I will do it!

Yes! Go get it girl! Well, tomorrow... But go get it! The force is strong in this one!

Ah... the lesser known “toxic 28” 😂

Great job getting though it... and stepping it up. You can collect your lungs later 😂

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to UnfitNoMore

I think I found part of one of my lungs :) The rest hopefully will find its way back during night :P

Oh man, nobody told me about toxic 28! And I thought it is supportive and informative community ;P I bet you are hiding toxic 30 as well!

UnfitNoMore profile image
UnfitNoMoreGraduate in reply to IgaT

Nah... the last 2 are easy always 😂😂😂

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to UnfitNoMore

So I have 2 difficult (W8R3 & W9R1) and 2 easy ones W9R2 and W9R3?

That's doable, I think ...

lusmo profile image
lusmoGraduate in reply to IgaT

What does it mean toxic 28? 🙄

Huge congratulations IgaT! 🥂 🍾

On selfie you look good, I prefer not to post my picture after the run! :-D

I can imagine it was hard.

But you did it! You did not give it up! That's amazing! 👍

But just one run this week and we've finished the week 8!

Who would have said it!

Great congratulations and have a nice rest.

We can do it!

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to lusmo

We can do it! No idea how, but yes we can! And we will! Indestructible running team!

I wouldn't achieve it without you my friend.

lusmo profile image
lusmoGraduate in reply to IgaT

Thank you! You have been a great inspiration for me for today's run.

Usually I would not push my nose out of the door to this weather.

But I will not disappoint you! :-)

By the way, it's interesting how I can be creative before I start.

I have so many ideas and reasons why not to do it and why stay home.

Some of them sound logical. 🤔

Support is very welcome! :-)

I'm starting to look forward to doing that! ;-)

And how? Well, "slow and steady" 🤩

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to lusmo

Yes, creativity of those perky gremlins is huge. Although I must admit that weather is very gentle for me this time. So no excuses due to rain, wind, snow, or hale, that I overcome in the past.

PPS: 4.2 km is really a lot! Incredibly!

A few months ago we did not run at all. Congratulations!

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to lusmo

I think apart from first 5-10 minutes, I had decent pace :) even when I was dying :P

Indeed few weeks ago, I struggled with running for 3 minutes!!! So I guess I was covering something like 500m :P

Dragonflies profile image
DragonfliesGraduate

I think you did amazingly well, your pace is very good for this stage, unless you have super long legs and giant strides 😉

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to Dragonflies

Yes, I am a very well hidden giant. I hide in 5 feet (153cm) tall body. And my legs are not the model type, so they end normally at my bottom, not the neck ;)

I am a giant ninja!!! I found my true self! Oh my!

Yay, fantastic! Such a great inspiration IgaT, I’m on Wk6 Rn2, dreading run 3.

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to Tracy2791

You can do it! Don't worry and don't overthink it. Go slow and steady, think about only the next step, or next few steps. When I was close to stopping, as I was exhausted, I was telling myself, only to this tree, only to this car, only to the turn. In the end powerful music did help. I have some weird mix that I ave found on YouTube (I can't find it now), but it has perfect bpm for me, so I can push to do one step per beat and in the end this was my sole focus. OK, maybe also not to trip on my own feet :P

Look forward to your post from W6R3! When is it due?

Tracy2791 profile image
Tracy2791 in reply to IgaT

Sunday morning, it does feel an awfully big jump, as did end of wk 5

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to Tracy2791

It will be fine, go slow, the same as on last run of week 5 ;)

lusmo profile image
lusmoGraduate in reply to Tracy2791

The worst is behind you. For me it was and still is w5R3!

And IgaT is absolutely right. You can do it! And you will do it! 👍

You post made me 😊. You are so not alone. My running style is not flattering and I am waiting for a passer by to ask if I am ok when I finish. I tried tonight to look like I could run as i had to run around the roads and not my usual field as it was too dark. Not sure I pulled it off though. Good luck and just keep going. You are doing brilliantly well. Be proud. You deserve to be proud. Every run is a huge achievement.

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to Wimborne

My running style is ... well very unique. Stride with length of a fingertip. Hands... or holding lead (like a lifebelt) or doing some extra work like with the winds to move me forward and help me detach from ground. My eyes are or looking somewhere ahead, which means I see nothing, my mind is too occupied with survival. Or happily looking around to find some distractions: flying birds, moving leaves on the trees, cloud shapes, planes, other runners, holes in the pavement, but usually looking for any animals that my distract my 4-paw regular running buddy.

lusmo profile image
lusmoGraduate in reply to IgaT

Same here. And a strangely moving dark figure that accompanies me every time the sun shines and leaves no doubt about how I look when I try to run. 😶

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to lusmo

My dark figure is trying to trip me over. Maybe it just want a hug? Or maybe I look like I need a solid ground support :P

Awesome post IgaT & awesome run too! Well done... 4 runs left! 🤩🙌🎉

Thanks :) How is week 8 treating you? When you have planned W8R2?

It’s treating me well so far thanks IgaT, I did R2 yesterday... planning R3 for tomorrow, but could possibly be Friday depending on work, kids & general life chaos 🙃

When are you out again? 💪

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to

My 3rd run should be Friday afternoon / early evening, but it may need to be postponed to Saturday.

Whenever you get out, be sure to enjoy it!!! Week 8 will be done... then it’s all about week 9 🤩💪🙌

lusmo profile image
lusmoGraduate in reply to

Yes! 💪

Nice to see you IgaT! Excellent work, 28 mins! and you made it home in... several pieces... still waiting for half a lung to crawl through the door?! it's probably having a quick breather.

Well you posted this 5 hours ago, so you should almost be finished on your warm down routine by now 😜🤣

These four runs are going to go so quickly!!! BIG WELL DONE!

Thank you :) I am on my warm up to sleep atm. My lungs did find way back, but my legs are thinking they are still running or something, as the muscle tension is damn high.

in reply to IgaT

I have found wearing long compression socks in recovery time does seem to really help with with my calf tightness, I don't get that 'John Wayne' walk going on when I'm walking up and down the stairs now...!

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to

'John Wayne' walk :') you made me so laugh!

Well, I would love to have some compression socks, but I didn't find my size. They are usually few sizes too big on my feet. I haven't found children / junior ones, but I would assume my calf wouldn't fit in, as it is regular to large size :P

I just kind of assumed there are no compression socks for me, but I didn't research this subject deeply.

Oh, such a good post. I graduated early August, and yep, you guessed it, I’m still changing colour three times a week, just to match my name you understand!

First 5/10 mins still toxic, but I now manage to run without the comfort blanket of a water bottle ready to glug at all times.

Good luck for last few runs!

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to BeatRoute

Thank you. I am rarely drowning in sweat and make my colours fit autumn red leaves. I was jogging not running, and I was concentrating on having this ability to talk while jogging, which made me slow down a lot. Jogging was usually leaving me peach or pink with medium amount of glow :P

I also tend to have toxic 5, and then it's good. Last run was toxic 28 O_O But today full rest day.

IgaT profile image
IgaTGraduate in reply to Jazzyjeff11

Thank you :) It was I didn't die kind of smile. To be totally honest, it took me a while to pull it out. My first couple of pictures were so exhausted and sad that I almost scared myself. So I gave myself couple of minutes to find at least one lung cell in my body that was able to perform breathing action, took a deep 1 cellular breath :P and try my best to contract those face muscles that are responsible for smile :)
