New 5k pb

1.10.16 average pace 6:48km

9.10.16 average pace 6:16km

5k in 31:32

Helped out at Great Run Local at the Olympic Park than as part of training plan ran home, hubby took part in the 5k so part ran home with me,should have spent longer rin in the park as short on distance when near home,so 3 laps round the block, had running past home.

Will plan next 5k better

Well done it is excellent that your speed is increasing. I seem to be stuck at 5k in around 32 mins and I so want to get under 30. Oh well I just need to keep doing it I suppose.

Joined an online plan that's us meant to help

I know what I need to do but get an emailed pep talk and hits and tips gives me the extra push

Advised to do one 5k per week and 2 shorter runs even just 20 minutes and tell legs to go faster....simple really but seems to have worked this week

That sounds like good advise and for me two short runs and one longer would fit in well. I can do 6k but only if I don't run fast

I plan to do 5k plus at weekends then shorter runs on way home during the week...will keep to 20 minutes so will hopefully be a bit further each run

Mell done PB's are the best .Liked your post. I hope to get up to 5K in 30 minutes. Tend to do anywhere between 31 to 33. Saw advice to tell legs to go faster but they don't seem to listen and have a mind of their own !

Not worried about it am happy with my health and well being. My pace has been increasing gradually am as others say mainly concentrating on stamina and increasing my distance bit by bit to 6K. Have found that having done nearly 6K and then dropping to 5K runs that I feel that I haven't had a run ! So it must be working and pace hopefully increase.

Thanks

I've done 3 10ks but not be always managed 3 runs a week.

Speed increase was as I fancied a new challenge...next is then regular 10k increasing to half marathon

Not bad for some who started running in May 2015

Good luck with increasing distance
