10 weeks ago I decided to make some changes and start enjoying life. I quit my job to take the summer off with my family, quit my 30 a day smoking habit, and started c25k after 20 years of no exercise and poor diet. Like most people here, I didn't really believe I'd ever run 5k, but with each passing week I felt better in myself and wanted to push on. I finally run 5k in 30.52 tonight, and im chuffed to bits. Next step is sub 30 mins and park runs, and to just keep the running habit going. Ive really started to enjoy it (except week 7, but I'm even glad that i had to fight through that). Thanks to everyone that comments here, it's a really great forum and your words really help. Good luck to those starting out and to those who are struggling, please persevere and reap the rewards. As a side note, I started a new job 4 days ago, I'm 11lbs lighter and I've saved Β£1000 by not smoking. C25k has really helped to change my life. Now to get my badge ππππ
Graduation run: 10 weeks ago I decided to make... - Couch to 5K

Congrats! Great post, and quite some story. I feel you, in same boat as yourself. That running pace is amazing as well.

Well done π your an inspiration thank you and good luck ππππ»
MrBob , congratulations on your wonderful life altering summer. Hope the new job is way more fun than your old one but, if its not, I think you'll just find another one until it is. I would encourage you to start ParkRun right away as it's great for keeping you motivated and it's such a friendly and positive experience. With any luck the rest of the family will join you, if only to cheer you on at first, and get healthier in the process themselves (even fresh air and daylight is a start!). For me, quitting smoking in 1997 was my lifetime no.1 achievement and I've never been tempted since, hate it in fact. Fortunately it's completely incompatible with running too so you'll not be bothered by anyone smoking near you at ParkRun! Good luck!
A brilliant post... very motivational.... well done you and huge congratulations on so many levels
Onwards and upwards !

Crumbs you don't do things by halves do you?! Amazing story. Keep it up!
Wow, massive congratulations!
Congrats, proof live is for living
Congratulations mrbob. It's a great feeling graduating and that time is awesome.
Well done. So inspiring. Hope you continue to enjoy running
Well done mate! The first time I ran a full 5k it took me 40 minutes, I'm now down to 28. Keep up the good work. My advice would be to work on speed first, then increasing distance, but do whatever keeps you enthused. Giving up smoking is the single best way to improve your health, so I wish you luck, don't give in to temptation.
Wow!!! What a victory! πππππ
Brilliant. Well done you!!!!
Wow MrBob you've certainly taken life by the horns! Massive congratulations on completing the program and for a very quick 5k time. I'd heartily recommend the Park runs, running amongst so many other enthusiastic runners is quite an experience and you get to try and PB each week π¬. Keep it up and I'm sure you'll go from strength to strength πππ
Such an inspiring story! You must be really proud! Go you π!!
Only just started with the run. You are such an inspiration. Well done
