Week 8 is now behind me. Did my last run yesterday mid-day. I usually tend to choose time when I know park would be relatively empty, but yesterday was different. I had no time to do it later so it had to be in park's 'rush hour'.
Started great, nice and steady, excellent pace. But some time after 15 minutes into the run I started getting strong nausea. Could be because I didn't have any breakfast (or very little food). I was thinking I would throw up and was very close to quitting. Suddenly I remembered I actually had chocolate bar in my pocket (I keep it just in case of dizziness or something). Grabbed it and put the entire bar in my mouth, chewing it while still running. Started feeling better in matter of seconds, as soon as my body got that sugar rush. I even smiled back at a runner going opposite side, giving me weird look (it must have been my mouth full of chocolate, guy probably thought I was crazy).
I manage to push through, and few minutes close to an end an older gentleman raised his fist as a sign of support! I was only reading about these kind of things happening to other runners and that gave me additional boost; I was flying through last few minutes, ending up running 4K total net (without walking part), at my best pace 7:11min/km, collecting 7 trophies on my Strava stats.
I am still amazed how one of the worst runs became my best. Really true to the word 'It was the best of times, it was the worst of times'.
Week 9, here I come!
