3rd attempt and I finally managed a 28 min run. My son came with me (sorry Laura you were ditched today) and three times I said that's it I can't keep going but he kept me going by giving me little things to aim for. Silver car ... next corner ... slight downhill ... passed the shops ... passed the bus stop etc

Suitably knackered now but so glad I did it Now just need to do it two more times without him

Amazing how just a little encouragement works. My trick was to say to the gremlins that wanted me to stop "OK, but I'll just do another 60 seconds and think about it." Sometimes I did that 20 times in a 28 minute run! Let us know how you get on - YOU CAN DO IT!

Well done Titch and coach! You've proved to yourself you can do it again and last time was not a fluke - no more doubting yourself now.

Yes, there are lots of mind games involved with running! But physically you can do it and you know it!

Thanks everyone. I plan to stop off on Monday somewhere on my way home from work for run number two. Change of scenery may help and also it means I won't be running in the dark.
