Starting the programme tomorrow, got 5 stones to lose and massive motivation now, lost a very dear friend recently and have the wake up call to get myself fitter and healthy so i can watch my children grow and join in their fun and games without embarrassing me or them.

Well done for taking that decision - you won't regret it.

Take things nice and slow and steady. Rest days are just as important as running days. Some decent running shoes are essential as is a sports bra if you are a lady. Stretch out after your runs to help with muscle stiffness.

The running will help tone your body, but the only way to shift extra weight is to watch your diet too. Do both together and you will give yourself and your kids the best gift ever!

It's hard but so worth it.

Good luck - let us know how it goes.

Welcome and the very best of luck for your first run. Believe me the sense of achievement when you do it is amazing. Just keep it really really slow and listen to your body. Take as many practices as you need each week too and only move forward when your body is ready. This program really works so trust in it and yourself. Enjoy the journey, it brings so much more than just running and everyone here will be with you every step of the way. 😀

Welcome to maybe, one of the best things you have ever done!

Take all the great advice that you will get... the support and the encouragement on the forum is fantastic!

You will hear, oh so many times, the phrase, slow and steady.. and really, that is the only way to go.. This is your journey, and you take it, at your own pace.

Eat less...move more, is a catch-phrase currently. easier said than done... this programme is not intended to give weight loss, but, combined with healthy eating it can make a difference and certainly some folk have lost weight...what it will achieve though, is what you are seeking. Feeling, fitter and feeling healthy. It tightens and as, Ullyrunner says tones your body.:)

So... the adventure starts! Wow! Keep posting and you will find so many friends on here:)

PS

If you feel you need some extra support for your weight etc, quite a few folk on here, are also doing the linked, Weigh Loss NHS...and that is an equally supportive programme :)

Hi Widdlepig (love the name) :) We all started right where you are, at the beginning and we'll all be here with you right the way through...and beyond! This is the best thing you could ever do for yourself, believe me. You only have to read a handful of posts to know that it truly can be life-changing. Many of us had never run before, seriously overweight, tired, lethargic, you name it, there is someone here who has 'been there'. Take it SLOW (you'll hear that a lot) and steady and keep posting so we can all encourage you along the way. Good luck with your first run :)

Well done for taking that step. This is a great place to be for the support and stories from people who are at various stages of the journey. Keep it slow and steady, go at your own pace and keep us posted with how you're doing. Good luck :-)

Good luck Widdlepig! I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, but you're doing the right thing by starting this programme. Laura is so lovely and helpful - she makes the whole process seem much easier. As the others have said, take it really slow and gently - you will be amazed at what you can do!

Welcome. Just take it slow and steady. I found crossing the front door step in my running gear the most difficult thing and I was shattered after the first run. I am now planning to do the final run if week 9. As others have said good running shoes and a sports bra are essential. Also trust the programme. It does work. Good luck on your journey.

Go for it and good luck, don't do it to avoid all the negative things, do it as a positive thing in itself , the achievement you will feel from each little stage you complete is better than the feeling you get from junk food! I am now 7 stone lighter than I was 18 months ago so proof it is possible and it is fun which is the biggest thing to keep motivation up! also think about entering a race next year so you have a goal to aim for !

Let us know how you go on and please remember we were all there exactly where you are now , when we started , so we " get " it .

Good Luck ! :-) xxx

Well done for taking the first step! The C25k programme is just amazing, following it is one of the best decisions you'll ever make. Go slow, stretch, take your rest days and you'll be a runner before you know it!

Stick with Laura and you'll continue to surprise yourself.

The forum is one of the best places on the internet. It's full of incredible, inspirational people so do post for advice, encouragement and to let everyone celebrate your successes with you! We'll be with you every step of the way :)
