I was in my local high end running store yesterday. Well, okay it was Sports Direct...
There was a thing there with heatpads that you stood on barefoot to find out if you were high-arched or low-arched and then - if you were buying Karrimor trainers anyway - you would know which colour of sticker to look for.
I'm not in the market for new trainers but thought I'd try anyway just to find out what I am.
Turns out I have one high arch and one low arch. I'm a freak.
So maybe I'll go for two different trainers....

That's useful to know, AnneDroid...When I started I just ordered a pair of trainers in the sale but they seem fine. Maybe people change their running styles too? I reckon you should insist on two different types for each foot, just to be narky
Oh that's so interesting! I took my kids there for running shoes - they are doing this with me - and I think that was the make I ended up buying for them. The shop was very busy so we didn't get to play with any toys! But I will look out for that when we need to go back
Well, I bought my current trainers at the beginning of C25k and chose them because they were a nice colour and had £90 off them!
I've landed on my feet though (haha) because they're very comfortable and I've had no issues at all.
I NOW know about the existence of gait analysis through this forum, so when my current trainers die of old age I may go along to a more upmarket shop and have that done.
OOh! SD is getting a bit posh isn't it? I saw that machine in Sweat Shop, they make special moulded inner soles for you, at the tiny price of £43...they felt kinda weird...
