Sunday we had signed up to run 5k at mc claren park very well organised by the Woking Lions . We waited having just walked 1 k to get to the start for the 10k to start. Chatting to the 5k runners . And this guy Sada said he only run a kilometre round the park lake . And hadn't jogged for years. He asked me about the course . I honestly didn't know apart from it being a trail and said my main aim was to complete the course however long it takes . So he asked to run with me . I said ok . But I'm slow, he said that's what I need , Husband George runs ahead so it was good to have company I'm slow but once I get into a steady rhythm I'm quite happy , well the lad stayed with me and was doing great. The trail started over a field with stubble grass , hard work. Then over a sand pit ( site was used for HG Wells Martian scene) then onto Horsell common really enjoyed that bit I warned him about tree stumps and roots we got about 2k in and he was still with me I thought he may of wanted to run ahead but said he had run further than he thought he could and that he could manage this pace. We came to the wAter station it was so hot that we both got a drink just took seconds and I said shall we go for it, off we went up a bit of a hill then through scrub with a narrow path the 10 k fast runners were beginning to pass us . So I said try and keep to the left for them to pass . Through another set of woods and on to mc claren park then back onto the Fair oaks airfield that Was the hardest as very long grass , and a Cessna taking off gave a welcome but dusty draft . I was flagging but my young protégée was still doing good He waited for me bless him , I said if you want to run on do, well he did but I caught up with him on the home run so he was a few seconds ahead of me , boy it was a tough one but enjoyable, I got our times went over to tell him . And confirm to his boss that he ran all the way . And his boss had said he would pay a £100 to the charity if Sada took part and completed . Double chuffed then. So time was 40 mins so not bad for his first attempt about usual for me . So very pleased with my Sunday morning .

What a fab sounding run! Well done you and how lovely for Sada to wait for you and for taking part, and for his boss to pay £100 to the charity! All great stuff brought about by running! A lovely post 🤗

A lovely post. He may have waited at the end but you helped him to get to that point. You earned that charity money together!

Wow this us brilliant. Well done to you both!
