Most of us felt like that at the beginning and the advice is to slow down and then go slower!
I've just completed WK8 running 28 minutes. I would have never thought it possible in WK1. Trust the plan and make sure you have rest days and you'll nail it
Yes - this is very common. At age 67, 3 years ago, I also could barely complete W1D1. 3 weeks ago at age 69, I completed a big half marathon with 5000 other runners in 1 hour and 29 minutes That is ME , I am talking about --- ME!! - 21.1 klms !!!
Hi, don't worry if you need to repeat a run, after all it's your journey not a race, also you are more likely to get through a run if you take it slow. Good luck 🌟🌟
Hello and welcome! It's easy to go too fast at first and it takes time to find the 'gears' you need to run without totally exhausting yourself. Go really slowly on your next run and don't be afraid to take more than a week to complete each stage if you want to - but I think you will be happily surprised at how quickly your body starts adapting to running. I'd advise adding a few stretches and strengthening exercises in as well as the weeks progress, on your rest days. Good luck, you've got this!
Well done for starting ! I couldn't do hweek 1 when I began earlier this year but kept practicing and cracked it and am now on week 8. As every one here says go slowly, it is just a gentle jog as Laura says. Oh and make sure you have proper running shoes too, and are well hydrated. I also find it important not to run too soon after eating but also to have eaten something recentlyand that's a hard balance to get right!!!!
Same for me on run 1 :-). I struggled when it came to penultimate jog and didn't manage the last one. looking back, I realise I'd set off too fast on my first 60 seconds jogging. Second was definitely easier and I did all 8 of the 60 second jogs. Run 3 tonight - fingers crossed....
I went fast the first time I did week 1 run 1 and couldn't walk properly for a week. Stretching is key as is listening to your body and just slow it right down if you're struggling. In a few weeks you will be running 30 minutes non-stop how exciting!
Welcome!! The C25k programme is simply amazing, following it will change your life and be one of the best decisions you'll ever make.
Top advice is go slow! Slow down until you feel like you can't possibly slow down any more and then slow down again! Take extra rest days if you need to (you MUST have at least one rest day between runs as it is where your muscles repair and grow and you'll be at risk of injury further along in the programme if you run consecutive days) and if you don't manage all the running intervals then try that run again next time. Stretch, listen to Laura, GO SLOWLY, take your rest days and before you know it you'll be running for 30 minutes!
