I want to start training for the c210k and the second run has something about doing a tempo run.. Can someone please explain to me what this is and how do I figure out what mine is!?!

Have a look at this runnersworld.co.uk/general/...

There is a lot to be gleaned from this page and the calculator. Well worth bookmarking.

To be honest, I think most of us ditched the training plans while heading for 10k, simply increasing one weekly run by 10% of week's total instead. The plans, in my opinion, are better suited to more experienced runners, while the newbie is likely to find them somewhat tyrannical and inflexible.

Think of it as 'comfortably hard'. As IannodaTruffe recommends the paces kicked out by the calculator are great - pay particular attention to how slow the long run should be. Good luck with whichever way you choose to get there. There is also a bridge to 10k forum you may want to check out :)

The simple answer is it's a pace you can only just maintain for twenty minutes. 5 minutes warm-up and the same cool-down makes it a 30 minute workout. It's a great way to get a buzz!
