5km for me.

All tick boxes done for the six weeks apart from this week's but I'm hoping to get the done over the weekend.

We treated ourselves to a mini two day break this week and it was great.

This quest has been a struggle and I only just managed to get all my tick boxes done. I was supposed to be buying new shoes but half way through the quest I noticed I had painful feet and my shoes fell out of my locker at the gym and I noticed there was no tread so I needed new runners so the money I had saved up went towards them. I can go with out heels but I cannot go without runners, I'm hoping the next quest goes a bit better for me this one has been dire.

Happy healthy running to you all.

Longest run 10k

Only managed half an interval session - too ill to continue and not been all that well since so just glad to get out running at all.

Completed one yoga programme and started another as that was quite short. I did most of that but the final class was supposed to be 'putting it all together'... and it wasn't really that. It was quickly apparent that it wasn't right for my stage so I gave up on that and did a few other bits and bobs. I did do the belly dancing class from the NHS Studio

Did my 10 squats every morning for Rignold

Got out on the bike, yay! Swimming wasn't a great success in any way - not getting there, what happened when I did get there, so that goal was not achieved.

And the weight went weird so I don't know if I'd've achieved my goal if I'd not been ill (it's been fluctuating by several kilos day to day in the last couple of weeks, my graphs are looking distinctly frenzied) I believe the underlying trend remains downward but perhaps not as quickly as I was aiming for (quite possibly due to the reduced activity)

All in all, a mixed bag. Lots went right.

This past six weeks quest has been brilliant for me..helped keep me focused.. ticked all boxes and feeling good.:)

My longest distance.. is this for a single run? 5k has been mine..

I'm glad this quest only starts monday as I need to think seriously now on what to do next.. graduated during last quest and ran my race for life.. had been consolidating the 30 min runs.. So a new plan needs forming..So hopefully by Monday I will be ready to post those :)

Thanks realfoodiclub x

Hows it going 90ldfinch ? Hows the recovery going ? :-) xxx

OK,

thanks for asking- I don't much care for the 'ol IC, poppypug . :)

1/4 of a century of avoiding exercise, followed by C25k graduation, and now I'm climbing up the walls because I haven't been running for 18 days. Bloomin' madness, innit? :)

I've rested as advised for 2 weeks but there's no difference.

At least I've been able to use that time to learn how to pronounce "plantar fasciitis" properly.

I was planning on demanding a physio referral from my GP this week, but I've had plenty of life stuff in the way- hopefully I'll do that early next week.

I might go for another bike ride in the morning- I'll have a word with the puncture gremlins :)

On a positive note, I've been reading a couple of running books, which I'll probably post a review of on here soon <collective groan> :)

Sounds like your HM training is going well [thumbs up] :)

Oh Finchy , Plantar fasciitis is sooo painful ! I do sympathise. I got it from wearing flat shoes like ballet pumps ( not that you've been wearing them of course ) It sort of went away by itself in the end .

I hope you manage to get some physio sorted .

You can go bike riding though cant you ? I know its not the same as running , but it might help you stop climbing the walls .

My HM is going really well thank you . A 14k planned for tomorrow :-O

Nice to see you on here again , and fingers crossed for you xxx

Happily my en pointe is still ok, it's just post-run stretches that are painful :)

Running book reviews are welcome, but I do hope you get better soon!

Longest run - 10k at beginning of quest, I think, but I have not run for almost two weeks (😩 The agony of NOT running!) The quest has not gone well for me - have felt exhausted and also developed a persistent niggle in my hip when running, both of which prompted the very brave decision to have a running break! The niggle is much better (and I see a physio next week) and I seem to have regained some energy. Have been making sure I eat well as I had slipped into a few bad habits, especially at work where cake always seems to be present in the staff room! Too much sugar not a great thing!! May pop out for a short 'tester' run over the weekend - am missing my runs but am also glad that I have taken this time out. The long summer holidays are coming up for me (I work in a school) so I am really hoping to be able to get back to where I was!🙂

Ah Sandraj39 hope the physio appointment goes well. I had a niggly pain in my hip last year and it put me on the couch . Hip Bursitis it was, not saying thats what wrong with yours of course . I hope you get it sorted xxx

Aw! Thanks Poppy😀. I have wondered if that's what I may have. Also quite tight piriformus (middle of my glutes!). Am sure I will get it sorted and not majorly concerned but I do miss my runs!! All part of the ride though isn't it? 🏃🏻😕

poppypug profile image
poppypugGraduate in reply to Sandraj39

Yes I think its all about the glutes, Ive been having a read up and they are the largest muscle group in the body. If they are weak , it can cause pain in knees, calves, ankles, the whole lot. I was given exercises by the physio and they all concentrated on the glutes ie Bridges, Clams, I really need to dig them out and do them again regularly now Im doing the longer distances xxx

Thanks for putting this up again Rfc, much appreciated xxx

My longest run was 14k which I am very happy with and also gobsmacked with too ! I thought it would be a long , hard , tortuous slog, but it wasnt half as bad as that . Ive got another one coming up this weekend too ! :-) xxx

A bit mixed for me as I didn't get out 3 times every week, but having the quest did help with getting me out at all sometimes!

Longest run was 8km.

10km for me.

Not running nearly enough, but plenty of walking and exercise.

Well done everyone, speedy recovery to those on the IC and thanks to rfc.

Realfoodieclub - you've got your priorities right! Runners are much more important than fancy heels, but you have done well and you should really find a way to treat yourself to those heels, I think.

My quest goals were

- to run 5k - I do that once a week now, so that box is thoroughly ticked!

- to run 5k comfortably - I did that once so I guess I can tick that box, but I still don't think of 5k as a short, comfortable run, so there is still work to be done.

- to lose 1 stone - I did lose 5.3 kg but not quite a stone. No box ticked, but I'm very happy about my weight loss though.

I'll start thinking about my quest goals for the next 6 weeks.

These last few weeks have gone very well for me, better than I would have dared hope. Barely so much as a peep out of my Achilles, and finally my strength is coming back. Goodness, that's taken a loooong time! 6 weeks off, and 3 months to get back to where I was...I'm enjoying my running again, that is, when it's cool enough to do some! Still, I've found some lovely new routes, and finding the where-with-all to run up some monstrous hills! Happy happy Curly!!

Longest run 12K

I managed most of my goals, but not all. Despite hot weather I got out at least 3x every week, thank goodness it's cool in the morning.

I ran 2x 10ks in the 6 weeks, both of them under the 1:20 I was aiming for, so well pleased with that.

Got a couple of PBs over 5k aswell. And seem to have broken the curse of not being able to run non-stop as I've managed a few 5ks again without breaks and am feeling a bit happier about that aspect. As long as I can throw in a non-stop run regularly I'm happy.

I failed abysmally on the core strength thing though and ended up doing nothing there. Bad organization, laziness and lack of energy in the evenings. Oh well, if I achieved everything I wouldn't have any goals for the next quest.

Hi, 10.5 k for me. My goal was to remain consistent. I did it, but I had to make some modifications.

The heat and humidity were hard to cope with, and I dropped the myAsics plan as I was having a really hard time getting out for long enough distances.

I also wanted to work on strength. I didn't do quite so well with that, but I did some sessions, and some is greater than none!

Oh dear...

Longest run was 6k.

My three goals for this Quest were:

1) to run in Singapore. Yes, I achieved that, hooray. It was hot and there were loads of fit and skinny Singaporeans around, and I did it. Go me!

2) to run 10k three times. Dismal failure. I only managed 5k times, plus a few other shorter runs. Partly I was travelling so much, partly I was ill. However, it was perhaps a tad ambitious.

3) to enter an event this year. Well, I tried. There isn't anything nearby and I don't want to commit to something that involves travel and hotel because I don't know what I'll be doing with work. However, GoogleMe kindly pointed out a local equivalent to Parkrun so I am going to that in August. So sort of planned to achieve.

Bonus point for going to my local running club's so-called beginners' evening. Its a 10-week course, free, turn up and run. It's not at beginner level and it will stretch me quite a bit, so I'm hoping it will help get my fitness and mojo back.

Thanks for organising us, Rfc, I find this really fab :)

Longest run was 7.5k. A bit less than I had hoped, but I have had a rather disrupted month or so with a lot of time away from home.
