Well all was going so well and after a good run at the end of week8 I was looking forward to graduation week. First run of the week I felt achy tightness in right calf, not something I have felt before. It started after about 5 minutes and I slowed down and then stopped and stretched and carried on. I had more than an ache in calf all the way but kept going. Afterwards my calf was very tight and hurt when I pushed with my thumb to massage it. Rested for 4 days and did gentle stretches. Tried run 2 today and managed about 15 mins of running then same ache/tightness so walked 10 mins and stretched gently back at home. Had a bath and massaged my calves in the water. Now if feels tighter than left leg and a bit achy. Guess I need to rest for a bit longer. I thought this time maybe I will try walking for a few days and then stretching? What do you think? I was so close to graduating so it's a bit frustrating. Next time I run I will have to skip the Julie song. Can't face that again. She jinxed me!

Ooh dddd4 - hope that tightness sorts itself out. It would be great to graduate the same week! Rest up and stretch! (wish I took my own advice - I forgot today!)

Aw sorry to hear this, how disappointing for you xxx

Have you got a rolling pin ? Maybe just roll the muscle but be warned it can hurt like a biatch . I would definitely rest it for a few days and maybe in the meantime, if you can try some gentle stretches too .

You did absolutely the right thing in stopping . Rather a few days off now than a injury.

Hope its better soon xxx

Oh no :( I know how you feel - I had to take 5 days in week 9 due to a sore knee (which was actually down to my calf) and it's incredibly frustrating, especially when you had a graduation time frame in mind and when people who were at a similar stage begin to finish Week 9. I had to remind myself that there will be many many runs to go after graduation - it's not the finish line and running doesn't stop there. I tried to remember that running three times a week is just something I do now and will continue to do after graduation so in that sense there's no hurry to get there :) Rest up to make sure you don't make it worse and when it feels better get back out there and graduate in style! You will get there!

Thanks for the advice I will try rolling pin. It doesn't hurt to touch today but keeps stiffening up. I am consciously relaxing it whenever I feel it tighten. Will start walking tomorrow and hopefully run at the weekend.
