It's nothing short of a miracle...

Hi. I've been sculking around this site for a couple of weeks plucking up the courage to post. And here it is. I've done the first run of week 6. Really. I've not run since PE in 1987 and here I am running for 10 minutes at a time. I know everyone says it, but I genuinely have never been more surprised at how my old body has taken to this. There's life in the old dog yet.

Well done it's amazing isn't it I struggled to walk home after the first 2 weeks it's great the way our bodies adapt to it so quickly good luck with the last few weeks until you graduate.

Thanks ☺ the first 3 weeks were the worst for sure. Yesterday I bought actual running shoes which are too snazzy for words.

Welcome Janey. Congrats on making it to week six - you have it in the bag at this point. The program is life changing for many of us. Not only does it get us running and active, but it also gives a sense of accomplishment and an understanding that we can try and succeed at a lot of things in life - not only sports. Keep posting, this forum is an amazing support system where you make genuine friends.

Thanks for such lovely encouraging words ☺ and yes, it's the sense of achievement that's so amazing (not the purple face! )

Purple face is a badge of honour - you worked for it ;). Two years of running and my face remains the same red hue from W1R1 while running.

I'm not sure if that's comforting or not! I look forward to many more years of puceness 😆

I will. I live with Marathon Man who can knock out 26 miles with barely any training. I'm making him do this with me. Basically he's a pacer ☺

Hi Janey and welcome to your new life as a runner :-) I finished school in 1987, so we could be around the same age (I'm 44). We might not be young exactly, but I'm a lot fitter than I have been in my entire adult life and if you are like many of us, you will be bitten by the running bug too. I started c25k in March and still can't believe what has hit me. I graduated in May and can't stop running :-) :-) Keep going and posting.

We are indeed the same age ☺ I decided it was time to take myself in hand before things got too dire!

Hi, I'm so old that I can't even remember the year I did PE at school. I had TB at the age of seven and the only thing I can remember was not being allowed to take part in swimming lessons if you had any conditions that affected your breathing, sport at my school was a big nono, so I had to sit and watch doing spellings instead. I eventually learnt to : swim at the age of 58,learn to ride a bike at 60, went in a canoe at 63, went snorkeling in Egypt at 64, was a pillion passenger on a motorbike for the first time at 68 BUT by far my biggest my achievement that I am sooooo proud of is that I can run for 25 Mins nonstop ar 71 & 1/2. So keep on going, and I say to anyone who is thinking of doing c25k whatever your age, size or current level of fitness believe in yourself and the plan because you can do it., just remember slow and steady and then if necessary slower still this life changing. Good luck on your running journey kep us all posted on your progress. Lol C.
