First Parktun done!

It was very hot as all in the sun and tough but I enjoyed it.

Think I need to get used to running in a group though as I found I couldn't work out my pace. I was constantly thinking "am I going too fast? Too slow?" Do others find that? When running in a group? Or does it help?

I'll definitely do it again, hopefully next weekend.

It doesn't matter how fast or slow you are in relation to the others at the run - on both of the parkruns I have done, I was among the last to come in. The main thing is to get your finishing time - and even then this is simply a measure of your progress, not something to pressure yourself with.

I've found doing parkrun regularly I know who runs at the same pace as me so try and stick with one of them. Glad you enjoyed it though and hope next week is good for you too.

Glad you enjoyed it. Probably the most useful thing is to gauge where to line up at the start, assuming it's a fairly large Parkrun. If you are expecting to finish in 37 minutes plus, start at the very back. Whilst some people might overtake you, most people at the back are slower runners, or have buggies or dogs and are staying clear of the chaos of the start. 32 minutes or so is about three quarters of the way to the back, and so on. Depending on terrain, the leaders finish in about 17 minutes, the main bulk of people are probably 25-32 after which it thins out. The tail can be anything up to 50 minutes or so, perhaps walkers. Some of the bigger Parkruns operate with pacers at various target completion times.

Thank you for the tip.

There are around 500 people at my Parkrun and I was 31minutes so I will aim to start three quarters of the way back. I think I was far too close to the beginning this week.
