The day the music died.......

When the battery died on my iPod just a few minutes into my run this morning I seriously contemplated turning round and postponing the run until tomorrow, but that would mean no run on Sunday because, although Laura and I parted company many weeks ago, I still never ever run on consecutive days, and for some reason my best and longest runs are always on Sundays.

So this morning I did my 5K listening to the birds, and the traffic, and my somewhat laboured breath as I struggled up the hilly parts, rather than the slightly cheesy 70's music which is my preferred running soundtrack.

Imagine my surprise then when I completed my run, feeling that I had really struggled through it, to find that I had a new PB time of 33.16!

I am, however, definitely going to make sure that everything is charged up for Sunday. My ambition is to try and increase my current longest run of 8.4K to 9K this weekend and I think I need Donna Summer, Cerrone and the rest to make it happen!

I really enjoy my running, especially at the weekend - something I never ever thought would happen. How quickly I have turned from a serious exercise avoider to someone who has managed to persuade her closest girlfriends to also join in. The last one has just started C25K and I am like a proud new Mum. It's bonkers and wonderful.

Happy running everyone

Well done :)

I've done a few trying to listen to nature over my breathing but definitely prefer my cheesy running CD playing quietly in the background.

Congratulations on the pb! Bonus :)

I'm still respecting the 'rest' day too and have by chance found a correlation that Wednesdays produce my long runs!!!

C25k definitely produces bonkers and wonderful long-term results :)

Keep going :)

I used to think I couldn't run without music and would use it as an excuse not to run. Then one day I forced myself to run without music and found I actually prefer it. I run further without it.

I did surprise myself with the time but I think I still prefer to have some tunes even if I'm a tad slower
