Very slow 🐒 week 8 finale

Just got back from a beautiful morning run. I ran as slowly as I possibly could - on purpose - to make sure I don't injure myself because I run every other day now and feel it a bit in my knees, and to make sure running continues to be enjoyable.Β

The last few words of that post, as my friend secan Β  always says, are the most important. It should be enjoyable !Β

Glad your run went so well..I have quite literally just got in too..just cooling down before my shower, and I always check my BP too.

Nice to think of you running where you are and me, in the fields here. It was beautiful...not a soul around and the world beneath my feet :)

You are doing so well..keep steady and enjoy... I have adapted a poem, by William Davies, to suit my thoughts..

" What is this life, if full of care, we have no time to 'run' and stare !"

Week 9 beckons! x

You inspired me to look for a poem on running and I came across this one:

The Song Of The Ungirt Runners - by Charles Hamilton Sorley

_

We swing ungirded hips,

And lightened are our eyes,

The rain is on our lips,

We do not run for prize.

We know not whom we trust

Nor whitherward we fare,

But we run because we must

Through the great wide air.

_

The waters of the seas

Are troubled as by storm.

The tempest strips the trees

And does not leave them warm.

Does the tearing tempest pause?

Do the tree-tops ask it why?

So we run without a cause

'Neath the big bare sky.

_

The rain is on our lips,

We do not run for prize.

But the storm the water whips

And the wave howls to the skies.

The winds arise and strike it

And scatter it like sand,

And we run because we like it

Through the broad bright land.Β

That is simply beautiful. I knew we were kindred spirits...I love poetry.

Your poem articulates perfectly, running purely for joy. I am going to copy it out and maybe incorporate it into a painting. I am inspired too...thank youx
