I never used an app. I used the nhs couch to 5K podcasts with Laura coaching on them. Â
I downloaded what I call the app on my phone C25K (yellow background) and it has Laura on it. She calls the sessions pod casts so I presume it's one and the same. My hubby has got the One You app which is the newer one same training just he has Sarah Millican on his and she seems a lot more scary than Laura. ;P
Mine is for a windows phone. Couch to 5k in 9 weeks. I think they all vary a bit, but we are all going in the right direction 😊
I 2nd the pod cast. Easy does the job.
You need the NHS podcast. Laura, the lady coaching you is lovely. Â And her awful music is a rite of passage.
I used an app called total c25 k , then switched to myrun as the first one kept inadvertently being paused! The programmes were both exactly the same in terms of the 3 runs and have the same intervals as the podcasts. They differ in the info they give you during the run, myrun was basically just telling you the walk interval, then run, then 30 seconds left of running etc. It suited me fine as I like the silence!
I use the Zenlabs C25K app. She's has a perky American accent and tells you when to start, what run you're on, when you're half way and then 1 minute left. There's a music option as well that lets me use my own music too.

I have one called 5k with a yellow background but it is not good because the time often come back to the previous session or to the next. 😑Â

Today I was in my w6r1 and I did 10 minutes running 5 walking and 10 running. It'easyer than some others I think...
