I did my first run on Tuesday and was feeling a bit achy in my muscles the day after. Nothing too bad and it was gone this morning so I went for my W1R2 today. Started to feel those aches part way through the session and by half way my right buttock was aching quite a lot but didn't think it anything serious so carried on (interestingly it actually felt less uncomfortable when I was running than when I was walking). Still aching now but nothing serious. I think it's the hills that are doing it. Going to try doing regular stretches so I don't stiffen up but is there anything else I can do and will this get better as I get fitter.

WK1R2 and feeling a little sore.

I think it is really important to warm up and cool down properly, especially if you haven't exercised regularly for a while. I know the run sessions have walks for this purpose, but I have found it helps to do an extra set of cool-down stretches when I get home.
I know the NHS site suggests routines, but this is the one I usually use: youtube.com/watch?v=i9u-svN...

You're doing hills in week1???!!! Blimey, that's tough. Can you find somewhere flat for the programme? It's normal to feel a bit sore when you first start running as your body has to get used to the movement. Make sure you warm up properly and take longer than the suggested 5 minutes if you need to. Also, stretch after every run.

Well done for starting and getting the first two runs done.... especially on hills!
